With great Central Coast weather comes great events. This week, local businesses are pulling out all the stops for locals and visitors who want to enjoy a starry summer night.

This weekend gives you three last chances to enjoy the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles. Tickets are still available for the Friday night concert with Kenny Loggins and opening act Firefall. The Country Rodeo Finals are Saturday at 7 p.m. and the always-popular Monster Truck Showdown brings the fair to a close on Sunday at 7 p.m.

Friday night offers a number of outdoor events for the movie lover or anyone wanting to take in an outdoor market and reggae music. The Avila Beach Fish and Farmers’ Market hosts live music, food and fresh produce every Friday. This Friday popular reggae band Resination will be the featured entertainment. The farmers’ market is from 4 p.m.to 8 p.m. on the promenade in Avila Beach.

Travel back up the coast on Friday to San Luis Obispo for a movie under the stars at Edna Valley Vineyard. The winery will be showing “Christmas in July” to benefit the Special Olympics. Wine will be available for sale and picnics are welcome. Tickets are $10 and $5 for Special Olympics athletes. The movie starts at 7 p.m. and all proceeds benefit the Special Olympics.

Keep up the nighttime fun on Saturday with a picnic on the patio at Mondo Cellars in Paso Robles. The free event allows attendants to bring their own picnic basket while they enjoy live entertainment, catered desserts and wine. Mondo Cellars will host the event every Saturday through October. The event starts at 5 p.m.

On Sunday, head over to Cambria for tapas, wine and music at Robin’s Restaurant for the restaurant’s weekly event, Summer Nights in Robin’s Garden. The event is from 5 to 9 p.m. and will through August.

This weekend is also your last chance to catch the hot song and dance revue “Shimmy Shake Shine!” at San Luis Obispo Little Theatre. Award-winning choreographer Suzy Miller serves up a Vegas-style show on Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday. Call 786-2440 for details.

Following a food and wine-filled weekend, take the kids to a puppet making and performance in Grover Beach Wednesday, Aug. 4. Children will have the chance to create their own puppet and story and share it with other participants. The cost of attendance runs up to $44. The event begins at 4 p.m. and will run through August.

End an activity-packed week by checking out Huey Lewis and the News. The popular ‘80s band that created such hits as “The Heart of Rock & Roll” and “Workin’ for a Livin’” will perform at Chumash Casino Thursday, Aug. 5. Tickets are $35 to $75 and the show begins at 8 p.m.
