July 16, 2012
A 20-year-old Cambria man died and another man faces arrest after an all-terrain-vehicle crash early Sunday morning.
At about 4 a.m., Garrett John Taylor, 27, drove the stolen ATV head-on into an oak tree. His passenger, Justin Anthony Evans, died of blunt force trauma.
California Highway Patrol officers said Taylor was headed westbound on San Simeon Creek Road near Red Mountain Road when he rounded a curve and drifted of the side of the road.
Emergency personnel transported Taylor to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo with major injuries. He faces charges of driving under the influence and vehicle theft.
