Supervisor Gibson sneaks girlfriend back in office?

Supervisor Bruce Gibson has brought his legislative assistant and mistress back to work for him in his office, several county employees said.

These employees contend Gibson is attempting to bring Cherie Aispuro back to work at his side without public exposure.

Gibson’s adulterous, long-term affair with Aispuro— his legislative assistant of six years — had been slated to cost county taxpayers $68,870 in annual salary plus benefits for a parallel county position she was offered by the county administrator.

Since November, after Gibson admitted the affair and claimed he was planning to file for divorce from his wife, Aispuro has worked in the county clerk’s office at almost double what her co-workers are making for the same work. Meanwhile, Gibson has been operating without an assistant.

A secretary for the supervisors’ office, Kristi Gutierrez, said she is unaware if Aispuro is again serving as Gibson’s assistant. When asked if Aispuro had been in Gibson’s office Wednesday, Gutierrez affirmed, saying that Gibson and his friend had spent time in Gibson’s office.

County Council Rita Neal said that today Aispuro is working in the county clerk recorder’s office.

When asked if Aispuro is going back and forth between serving as Gibson’s legislative assistant and working in the clerk’s office, Neal said, “I am not at liberty to discuss that. On the record, Aispuro’s position in the clerk’s office has always been temporary.”

Calls for confirmation to County Administrative Officer Dan Buckshi and Human Resources Director Tami Douglas-Schatz were not returned.

Cherie Aispuro was appointed by Gibson as his legislative assistant, an at-will job that concludes when the elected official leaves office. After news of the affair with Gibson became public, the county offered Aispuro the new job.

So, why should any of us be surprised? He likes to sneak around, behind closed doors, engage in morally corrupt behavior (i.e. cheating on his wife), so why would anyone be surprised that he will do what ever it takes to get back on the “e” ride. Now, the question is, if he could lie to his family that he swore to honor, forsake all others in front of god and family, then what is he willing to do to all of us? He lacks moral character, but he leads our community, so what kind of message are we sending our children?

I don’t think it is the issue so much as it is her slavish kissing up to members of the county BOS.


It is not unusual to see women like Lynette who are so, so easily impressed by low-level local politicians. All they have to do is pat her on the head every few months, and she will continue to make a fool of herself by zealously supporting them.

The part I don’t get is why the voters continue to bring back the bad apples election after election. What I’m told is that I/we can vote for change, but it doesn’t happen. The same good old bad apples remains in power, and do whatever they please. Who are these sheep I have for neighbors that can so easily be led back to voting for slime? Obviously the majority of voters like what they see, and want to keep seeing it. I do not,

There’s Lynette again, calling CCN readers “lowlife bottom feeders.”


Lynette Tornatzky has harassed CCN over the Maria Kelly/Paavo Ogren scandal for a while now. What people don’t know is that she’s received preferential treatment from Gibson. Gibson has delegated authority to her during office hours in Los Osos to discuss the wastewater project. He’s done this with other private citizens like Russ Westmann and Bill Garfinkel, prominent advocates for the sewer project. Gibson has deferred to them when questions about the sewer are asked.


She has a very personal connection to Gibson. Gibson chose her to be the hatchet-girl.

Thank you for sharing this information. There always seems to be a tight connection when people do not make sense or see the daylight for their prejudice. She too, may be very connection to Mr. Gibson.

I don’t know if she is a SLO BOS groupie, or if she simply approves of extramarital affairs on the taxpayers’ dime in general.


Either way, it is only when the SLO BOS extramarital affairs are discussed at CCN can she be depended upon to show up.

Oh, CCActivist, you are making stuff up again.


CCN deserves what it gets from me, my honest opinion, and it is up to them to delete my comments if they don’t like them, but apparently they liked them.


I have received no preferential treatment and absolutely no authority has been delegated to me on anything, sewer or otherwise, and Gibson has chosen me to do nothing.


I rather like the title “hatchet-girl” when it comes to knocking down the absurdist and damaging theories of sewer foes.


Here’s what is wrong with this article:


1. Who are the county employees? Why would we believe what they said wasn’t just because they dislike Gibson’s politics. Maybe they are jealous gossipers trying to stir something up? No answers to those questions in this “story.”


2. “When asked if Aispuro had been in Gibson’s office Wednesday, Wilson affirmed, saying that Gibson and his friend had spent time in Gibson’s office.” Who is Wilson?


3. If true even, how long was she in the office? Had someone sent her there with a report from the Recorder’s office? What laws were broken? No answers to these basic reporter-type questions.


There is no story here, just a bunch of lame, garbagie gossip by unknown persons, presented in a horribly written fashion to stir up $h!t.

Perhaps your full involvement in this debacle should be investigated as well..

If the GJ took on the issue of misuse of funds by both Hill and Gibson, as well as their floozies who participated and benefited from the misuse of funds, then both Maria and Cherie would certainly be investigated….and their own use of the county resources to which they have access may become an interesting part of the GJ report.

danika, you can read can’t you? If there is a story here, please point me to it. I see gossip fluffed out to look like a story which is mostly filled in with old news.


I post here not in response to the story, other that to point out that it isn’t one, but to try to counter the crack-pot rabid responses to the non-story. People don’t like Gibson for one reason or another and latch onto this tripe like piranhas in a feeding frenzy.


I do see though that I did make an impression, the CCN staff removed the reference to “Wilson” which made no sense. (See, even proof reading their own “story” would have helped out a little here…)

I think that if we just leave Gibson alone the county could be in better shape. Both Gibson and Hill should have General Service construct bedrooms in their offices and that way they can conduct their business that they appear to be most interested in. Let them stay busy with their county paid for toys and maybe the remaining 3 county supervisors and get on and conduct business without being distracted by these two idiots.

I like the idea, but not on the taxpayers’ dime. In addition, the supervisors’ floozies should not be employed by the county in positions over which the supervisors have any impact at all, including funding of a homeless clinic to employ one of the supervisors loser floozies.

Easy now MaryMalone. While I do agree that a whole lot of stupidity occurred with the job shift and how it looked, calling these women floozies is harsh and unfair. It means that they only got their jobs because of their physical assets. So I ask you. Do you know that or assume that?


Look I’m not overlooking the issues. Just want the name calling to get toned down. While I think that Mr. Hill’s ego is so endowed as to not care, I do believe that Mr. Gibson and Ms. Aispiro are affected by epithets. So if you can, vote Gibson and Hill out. But don’t insult them. It demeans you.


That being said, given the make up of their districts, I think they just get a nudge, wink and many more terms.

Definition for floozy:

“A girl or a woman who has a reputation for promiscuity.”


I think a woman who has an affair with a married man, or a woman who is married and has an affair with a man, can be considered promiscuous.


Therefore, my use of the term “floozy” is accurate.


My question to you is, why are you attempting to protect these floozies?

Frankly I don’t care about Bruce Gibson’s sex life and don’t want any details.


But I do care if our tax dollars are being miss used to keep a girl friend in a cushy job.


I would hope the county council and the rest of BOS would leave the former alone, but they need to investigate the latter.
