Morro Bay Friends of the Library gives thanks

April 26, 2013

mb libraryOn behalf of the Board of Directors of the Morro Bay Friends of the Library, I would like to thank the 400 plus attendees and volunteers who made our April 14 open house such a smashing success.

We were pleased that so many people were able to see the new remodel plans for the Morro Bay Library and meet our architect, Shana Reiss, to learn more about the design. We heard so much positive feedback from all those who attended. We had the opportunity to give away free books to the 65 children who came and enjoyed the games, crafts and the sing-along with David and Kata Linfield.

Our campaign to raise $500,000 for a complete interior remodel of the existing library space is well underway. We are moving quickly past the $300,000 mark and are grateful for the many donors whose contributions are counted in that total. This project, which is to be funded almost completely by community contributions, is the realization of a vision to create a unified library space that is designed to meet both present and future needs of the library as it continues to grow and thrive in Morro Bay.

We are fortunate to have such community-minded citizens in Morro Bay who view this project as a priority. Thank you again to all those who have supported this endeavor so far!

Robert Davis is the President of Morro Bay Friends of the Library.
