A pregnant Atascadero woman lost her baby after a wrong-way driver crashed into the car she was driving on the Cuesta Grade on Wednesday night.

Under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs, David Worthington Ross was driving a white GMC Canyon truck the wrong way, heading southbound on northbound Highway 101, when he crashed head-on into the Atascadero woman’s black Dodge Charger. Three other vehicles also crashed into both the truck and the Charger.

Paramedics pronounced the passenger in the Charger, a 55-year-old Grover Beach man, dead at the scene of the crash.

Responders transported Ross and the pregnant driver of the Charger to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, both suffering from major injuries.

Because of a previous DUI conviction, Ross could face a second-degree murder charge.

In ’89 I was a juror on the Michael Seymour DUI murder trial, where Seymour had a prior DUI arrest and lost his license, but drove again after drinking all that morning. He drove his car, towing a boat, into the rear of a turning vehicle on El Camino, South of the shooting range. The impact broke the boat loose, sending it 200m down the road after jumping over both cars. The victim car was so crumpled from the rear, that the tiny girl in the back seat was crushed against the drivers seat, shattering her skull.

The only reason we took longer than 10 minutes to easily reach a guilty of 2nd Degree murder verdict, is we wanted lunch first.

As far as I know, he is still in prison.

This a&&hole deserves no less.

The death toll from David Worthington Ross’s most recent carnage now rises to two. What is the injury status and recovery prognosis for his other innocent victims? He should be charged with vehicular manslaughter or murder. Because of a previous DUI, or rather OLWWIMAI “Operating a Lethal Weapon While Intentionally Mentally Altered and Impaired” conviction, Ross should face multiple murder charges and a sentence of Life in Prison or Capital Punishment.
