San Luis Obispo celebrates restaurant month
January 3, 2014
Dozens of San Luis Obispo County restaurants are participating in the seventh annual Restaurant Month promotion running January 1 through January 31st.
Participating restaurants will offer a variety of special menu selections with many featuring a three-course prix fixe meal for $30. Menus can be paired with wines from Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo wine country for an additional charge.
“Restaurant month gives our chefs an opportunity to create new items and to spring them on the unsuspecting public,” said Simon Kovesdi, manager at the Sea Venture Restaurant in Pismo Beach. “January is the time for the public to enjoy a gourmet food and dining experience at a competitive price.”
Sea Venture chef Casey Walcott recommends the dark chocolate bread pudding which is served warm with an orange, marshmallow and Grand Marnier sauce.
“It is amazing,” Walcott said.
Restaurant Month began locally and now is part of a statewide promotion–California Restaurant Month–designed by Visit California. The goal of the campaign is to encourage people to experience some of the unique food options available throughout the state.
“Café Roma has been participating in Restaurant Month since its inception,” said owner Marco Rizzo. “It’s a great way for locals to get to know new restaurants and revisit favorite places.”
