September 9, 2014
A San Luis Obispo man allegedly bound a 27-year-old woman with tape then assaulted her with a knife, scissors, a pool que, and burned her with kitchen utensils Monday evening.
At approximately 11:30 pm, San Luis Obispo Police Officers responded to the Chevron Station at 151 Santa Rosa and found a female with significant injuries covering her entire body hiding inside the business. The injuries on the victim consisted of burn marks, lacerations, scratches, bruising, and extreme swelling. She also had tape tangled in her hair.
The victim told officers Timothy Hayes, 33, held her against her will at his home on the 500 block of Jeffrey Drive and continued to threaten and assault her for approximately two hours before she was able to escape.
Officers took Hayes into custody without incident. A search of his residence revealed numerous items supporting the victim’s allegations including a .22 caliber handgun and a high power rifle.
Officers booked Hayes into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of torture, criminal threats, kidnapping, mayhem, domestic battery and assault with a deadly weapon. His bail was set at $1 million.
