Police searching for Hampton Inn burglary suspect
August 25, 2015
San Luis Obispo police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed the Hampton Inn and Suites on Tuesday morning.
Shortly after 4:30 a.m., the man walked to the second floor of the hotel and then back to the lobby. Using a ruse about spilled liquid outside, the alleged burger duped the hotel clerk into leaving him alone in the lobby.
While the clerk was gone, the suspect pried open the cash register drawer and then left with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect, described as a light-skinned black man with a beard, was recorded on the hotel’s security camera.
The San Luis Obispo Police Department is asking anyone with additional information about the suspect to call (805) 781-7317. Informant identities can be kept confidential, police said in a press release.
