Burger King employees fall for prank, smash windows

January 31, 2016

Burger King 7

After receiving a prank call late Saturday night from a person saying there was a gas leak at the Morro Bay Burger King and windows needed to be broken, employees complied breaking out more than a dozen windows.

At about 11 p.m., a caller said they were a representative of the fire department tasked with informing store employees of an emergency. The caller then told the employee they needed to break out the restaurant’s windows in order to provide ventilation.

The Morro Bay public safety team, including both the police and fire departments, responded to the possible gas leak. However, upon arrival, fire fighters found the damage to the facility but no gas leak.

The restaurant is currently closed while employees board up windows to protect against theft and rain. On Monday, a contractor is slated to replace the damaged windows.

The city wants to make clear that the fire department would generally not call a business directly to warn of such an issue.

yup, 15 bucks an hour is what they should be paid.

False equivalency. Even stupid americans should be able to afford paying the bills if they work a full time job. The standard of living for just about all young people is in decline, and i wonder myself if the american dream will die with the baby boomer generation. Oligarchy doesn’t work.

Such a waste of time and money for everyone. Shame on the nut case who called this in.

Didn’t they realize they could have propped a door open?

I bet Adam Hill did this.

@mej and that is why $15 an hour is way over their pay grade.

Amazing the amount of perfect people in the world. Late on a sat. night, it was probably mostly young kids on shift. They made a mistake. Wonder how many here made mistakes at that age? If it was an true emergency and they didn’t do right you’d bitch about that. Ease up.

I would like to know if after breaking all of the windows, whether or not they remained inside cooking French fries.

People making hundreds of thousands a year invaded a country and killed over 500,000 civilians. It’s NOT money. If that’s what you’re inferring.

In the “Morro Bay Burger King”? No.

Sure it happened, just not in Morro Bay, not on Saturday.

That’s an excellent point. So many people who think they are smarter and more professional are actually complete hacks, no matter how much or little they are getting paid. They will fall for anything from religion to terrorist threats. Fear is the most common denominator in what makes them gullible.

Remember…these are the same people preparing your food.

I am curious about your comment; are you inferring that the workers are incompetent, or gullible ?

Both?

Just another reason to never buy/eat fast food

Yeah, $15 an hour will fix this problem…………

You beat me to it! They deserve a raise!
