Templeton woman killed in crash

CHP@A Templeton woman was killed New Years Day when a pickup truck she was a passenger in crashed on Highway 41 in San Luis Obispo County one mile south of the Kern County line. [KSBY]

Shortly after 8 p.m., the driver of the Nissan Titan hit a patch of black ice. The truck rolled multiple times, went down an embankment and then landed upright.

Kelly Johnson, 22, was killed in the crash. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Emergency personnel transported the currently unnamed driver to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo where she was treated and then released

California Highway Patrol investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.

What a shame. I feel terrible for the family. This is the second young person in 1 month to lose their life to a car accident because they did not put on a seat belt.

Black ice at 8 PM? Not likely, it was about 40 degrees there then.
