Pismo Beach police have identified a body that washed ashore as Tulare man Marco Antonio Reyes Jr., 28. Reyes went missing last month after he jumped off the Pismo Beach Pier. [KSBY]

Police are tentatively ruling Reyes’ death an accident, saying it appears the Tulare man drowned. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

At around 9:30 p.m. on March 19, Reyes jumped off the Pismo Beach Pier. Witnesses then saw him struggling in the water. A multi-agency search ensued, but rescue workers did not manage to find him.

On Monday, visitors walking along Pismo Beach found the partially decomposed body of an adult male. The body was discovered around 1 p.m. approximately one mile south of the pier.

Investigators identified the body as Reyes based on the clothing he was wearing and several distinct tattoos.

I’m still puzzled by Marco giving his wallet to someone on the pier before he jumped.
