Freshman Congressman Salud Carbajal will not join many of his fellow House Democrats in boycotting President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Friday. Despite vowing to attend the inauguration, Carbajal is adamant the president-elect is a man he does not respect.

“I am attending this inauguration not in celebration of a man that I do not respect, but rather to bear witness to our democratic institutions,” Carbajal said in a statement released Tuesday. “I want him to see the face of a Mexican immigrant newly elected to serve as the first Latino representative for the Central Coast and to know that the many groups he has disparaged and attacked over the course of his campaign have a strong voice in our government.”

At least 14 California congressional members are planning to boycott the inauguration, according to the New York Times. All of them are Democrats.

Nationwide, about 60 members of Congress have said they plan to boycott Trump’s inauguration. Many of the representative taking part in the boycott are protesting Trump’s feud with Congressman John Lewis, who was a civil rights leader in the 1960s.

Carbajal said he plans to protest Trump by joining many of his colleagues in the Women’s March on Washington. The march will take place on Saturday, the day following the inauguration.

While campaigning for Congress, Carbajal repeatedly attacked Trump as a means of attacking his opponent, Republican Justin Fareed. Carbajal accused Trump of rampant racism and misogyny.

Since taking office, Carbajal has been appointed to the House Committee on Budget. Carbajal is currently battling the House Republicans’ effort to repeal Obamacare.

Carbajal’s full statement:

“From the moment he takes office, I want the president-elect to know there are members in Congress fighting for communities who will be greatly harmed by his misguided policy proposals and we will not be ignored.

“I want him to see the face of a Mexican immigrant newly elected to serve as the first Latino representative for the Central Coast and to know that the many groups he has disparaged and attacked over the course of his campaign have a strong voice in our government.

“I am attending this inauguration not in celebration of a man that I do not respect, but rather to bear witness to our democratic institutions.

“And the next day, I will proudly join many of my colleagues during the Women’s March on Washington to send a clear message to our new president about the values we stand for as a country.”

There is a massive immigration movement of Mexicans into California – sponsored and encouraged by the Democrat’s leadership. Mexicans here – both legal and especially illegal – work with Democrats to enroll Mexican immigrants into the Democratic party.

The transparent objective to increase the Mexican vote to allow the Democrats to retain political control of the State.

The hope is a silent majority of conservatives will awake and save California from the liberals that cause its demise. Otherwise, the transfer of Federal programs out of California is without question a reality considering the Democrat’s rejection of Trump as dictated by its policy of immigrating Mexicans.

Wow. It’s called being a professional, Salud. You don’t respect the man, or don’t like him? People who cannot show respect, often do not get much of it themselves.

Is it me, or are all these uptight democrats putting the cart before the horse, so-to-speak? I mean, Trump has not served a single day in any political office that would effect anyone’s life, so how can so many people immediately jump to such a severe conclusion? Is the propaganda working that well, or is it just the narrative is being highly focused on, to present the illusion (yet again) to the folks who have neither the time, nor inclination to dig deeper into the truth of the matter?

California Freshman Congressman Salud Carbajal to go to inauguration but not in support of Trump

California needs to get rid of the SOCIALISTIC MARXIST MEXICO Mexicans running Sacramento…and start electing Mexicans who are Republicans who represent American values…

They flee their native corrupt countries, come to America, and then join the democrat Party and vote for the same corruption they fled from…

“…start electing Mexicans who are Republicans who represent American values…”

We had those “values” in place for 8 years and it’s taken 8 more years to get our heads above water. But I guess if we take OUR country back to 2008 it would really keep all the Mexicans out, right? Why would they come to country that’s no better off than theirs?

And trump, your Republican president, does in fact “… represent[s] American [Republican]values”, right? He has to, you elected him.

Values? What a crock-of-partisan-bullshit!!!

This is all very sad. I look in the mirror and ask what is happening to my America? Is it being dismantled right before our eyes. Granted Trump is, in my opinion, a little scary. But at the same time what were our choices as both candidates have serious problems.

I think that it’s disgraceful that elected officials who supposedly are there to represent all of the people have taken the path to not attend the inauguration and what is suppose to be the smooth transition of power, They are only adding fuel to the possible firestorm that may lay ahead of us.

Remember the massive brouhaha that went on for months when Rush Limbaugh said; “I hope he fails” (meaning Obama)? But since Trump was elected the rioting, screaming, crying, whining, whimpering, and some actual protesting are all somehow justified? They should change the name of the DNC to the DHC (Democratic Hypocrite Party). I don’t like Carbajal at all, but you have to give him some credit on this one.

Don’t forget CNN’s piece on what would happen if Trump and Pence were killed…

“Disaster could put Obama cabinet member in office” they graphic on the screen read, as the reporter theorized “what if something happened” to the various people in line to the presidency. I mean, sure, there’s a procedure for transference of power, but is the day prior to the inauguration a good time to theorize all the way down the line until you hit an Obama cabinet member? It was in very poor taste, as many things CNN does as they flail recklessly to stay afloat or relevant.

I hope Trump follows through and cut federal funding to California

We will all suffer one way or another having crooked liberal politicians in power

The last time democrats boycotted an inauguration was when they opposed President Llincoln and his intention of ending slavery. Interesting

Yes, isn’t funny how they don’t want to bring up any of the issues of WHAT PARTY were the proponents of Slavery and were trying desperately to maintain the inhuman and unthinkable enslavement of a race??? OH NO, I thought they all talk about the “coming together, healing, being accepting,” – WHERE are these people – WHERE are these 30 arrogant CALIFORNIA REPRESENTATIVES NOW?? They are acting like spoil little brats and don’t begrudge them it they don’t like Trump’s policies…I HATED Obama’s policies/philosophy. But GO to the inauguration – show the “respect” for the event and the transition and THEN do all the damn posturing you want within the confines of your legislative power – DO YOUR JOB and QUIT SHOWBOATING and embarrassing California. Heck we already get referred to as a bunch of nuts and flakes….and these guys are truly proving the “flakes” part.

He should not attend.

Stand up for what you believe in!

He is standing up for what he believes in: the United States of America.

So, let me understanding your statement: The other Representative, especially most from California, don’t believe in the United States of America. Unfortunately, I think you are absolutely correct. They are part of the swamp near the cesspool that need cleaning!

You are RIGHT! He should take his toys and go home! That’s the big-boy thing to do, right?

Such children. Have all of the adults left politics, or is it we just cannot bring ourselves to elect (or even nominate) them?
