Women’s march in SLO attracts thousands

SLO Womans march

Correction: Over 7,000 thousand people attended the San Luis Obispo Women’s March.

Thousands of people gathered at Mitchell Park in San Luis Obispo on Saturday morning for the Women’s March, a much larger-than-expected crowd in a march to protect the civil rights of women.

Following a 10 a.m. rally, protesters marched a 1-mile path through downtown San Luis Obispo. With over 7,000 protestors, as people finished marching, additional protestors were waiting in line to begin the 1-mile march.

Marchers, some in “pink vagina hats,” continued their protests as a light rain dampened the march.

While the marchers were mostly female and white, men and non-whites also joined the protesters. In addition to women’s rights, people marched for human rights, gay rights and for religious freedoms.

A group of seniors carried signs asking President Donald Trump to keep his “hands off Social Security and Medicare.” SLO womens march 5

Similar marches happened throughout the United States and the world. With hundreds of thousands of protesters, the largest march was in Washington, D.C.

At the rally, speakers voiced concerns that women’s rights could be denigrated with a president they said is routinely disrespectful to women. Marchers also noted their disappointment that Hillary Clinton lost her bid for the presidency.

While the Washington D.C. march was underway, Clinton tweeted: “Thanks for standing, speaking & marching for our values @womensmarch. Important as ever. I truly believe we’re always stronger together.”

Maybe all of these marchers should have marched themselves to the polls last November 8th. Not sure what good if any they are achieving now. Seems so prematurely and unnecessarily divisive….

Their votes wouldn’t have mattered. Thank God for the Electoral College. Trump planned to win in the Rust Belt, Hillary’s imported voters in CA and the Northeast didn’t do her any good.

They probably did. You must have not heard about the +- 2 millions votes that his opponent got over him and how the electoral college back-doored him into office. Nah, couldn’t have…

Get over L.A.

2 million Mexico Mexican Socialist votes in Calif. gave her the popular vote…

Rawhide! Prove it!

Oh, by-the-way… I am over L.A., right along side California and SLO. Way over it! The clean fresh air here in Oregon without the price tag of california conservative laced propaganda is much more healthy, body and soul!

I’m sorry but just one more thing…

Take away those two million you speak of Mrs. Clinton would have still won by +- 1 million votes.

Hows the taste of reality, not alt-facts, feel on that tongue? Bitter? I betcha…..

Right-wingers had their go at names including ‘o-bummer, etc’

Here’s one for you all: Trumpisconi. Or do you not ‘get’ that?

Both have great taste in women.

I’m so glad this march was peaceful and civilized. It says/shows so much more about the current president supporters who are full of hate and mistrust. The IQ of these two groups is so obvious.

The real hate and mistrust is from the left.

Last year, the left attacked Trump supporters and rioted in Chicago and San Jose.

On Inauguration day, a man was shot outside a Milo Yiannopolois speech at the University of Washington and Richard Spencer was sucker punched by a masked assailant.

Let’s familiarize you with how psychologists assess the intellectual quotient. The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale is the most commonly known in the US, and there is also the widely European-applied version; the Cattell Intelligence Test, which is most accurate when assessing an IQ in the 140-160 range. So then: you think a crowd of people standing around exhibiting little or no emotion is an accurate assessment of intelligence? In psychology we call that “flat effect”.

Let’s also give you a brief analogy of the fallacies. Assuming you can detect the level of IQ by how a person looks standing around in a crowd is bad enough, but are you even aware of the fallacies? Do you honestly believe that everyone at this rally was a Democrat? That there are no people with psychological issues that present with hate and mistrust that are also registered Democrats?

Could anyone-Democrat or Republican (or otherwise) actually exhibit this level of logic in a country that has some of the finest educational institutions that exist? You can actually learn about the fallacies at Cuesta College–and learn to assess intelligence there also. Should one at least be able to demonstrate average or above-average intelligence and basic inductive and deductive reasoning to vote?

I went BUT pleeeeeease don’t slam Trump BEFORE he does anything! And pleeeeease DUMP THE CLINTONS!

I didn’t see any pink pussy marches to protest the presidency of Bill Clinton. Yo – news flash………….which president could have been more disrespectful to women than Bill Clinton and his accomplice Hillary with a track record of womanizing through out his political career? And oh by the way, how may sexcapade trips did Clinton take with Jeffrey Epstein, the admitted pedophile billionaire, to his island retreat since he left office?

Please! Just forget all those decades of womanizing abuse and cover-ups… instead, just focus all of your hatred on the new guy that has not done anything yet.

Sheesh, from the tone of your post it seems like multiple affairs and the personal destruction of women by Bill and Hillary seem more important than “what might happen” with Trump. Get your priorities in line with the Narrative of the Desperate.

He has “done things” by his own admissions and the admissions of a lot of women! Do you get that? And in the keeping of the SLO narrative if this guy has done it before then it is assured he’ll do it again!

Trump was on that same plane and in the same black book that Epstein kept….

I’m a little bit concerned about the speeches given by the SLO City Manager and the SLO Chief of Police at the special interest, non-city event. Both seemed inappropriate.

It would also be interesting to know who exactly paid for all the law enforcement, all the route set-up, all the porta-potties and everything else?

Bingo, the local citizens! The local politicians (mostly Demobrats) and of course our gay City Manager and Police Chief were part of the organizing team. As a native SLO I am so glad I 0moved out of SLO with their bias corrupt politicial agendas and leadership. Remember, 70% of this City is transient and the other 30% are associated with Cal Poly, Chamber of Commerce/Visitor Center and local government. So sad to have watched the destruction of what once the greatest little gem in the Central Coast.

This is an interesting question that demands an answer, who paid for the Police presence, closed streets, and clean up of this protest?

I know when bands have concerts in public places, they have to pay for the clean up, etc. It should be the same with protests. Get on it President Trump, this will stop these leftists from rioting!

Who cares! But probably the same that paid for tea party rally’s and the like…

And I should have continued with no one seemed to care who paid that bill!

Its called a permit.

Oh, okay! Thanks for the update…

I was there and the organizers said that at least 7800 people had registered.

It was a positive, peaceful march/protest. It was wonderful

Also those “pink vagina hats” are known as pink pussy hats. Notice the cat ears?

It is heartening and surprising to me to see so many sane comments on this matter on this website.

It is refreshing to see US women exercising their right to a peaceful protest. You don’t have to agree with them but the Constitution allows for this.

You’re right. I love how all people in the US can protest peacefully. Can’t imagine this happening in Saudi Arabia or any pretty much any Arab country
