Arroyo Grande doctor’s integrative perspective on the coronavirus, part 2

March 23, 2020

By Dr. Gary Foresman

This will be part of a series of updates focusing on the prevention and treatment of this novel coronavirus. Please start with Part I (found here). Be clear, the goal of education is empowerment, to end any role ignorance and misinformation plays in the realm of public decision-making.

First, the bad news. America has not prepared for the pandemic. Everyone with even mild cold symptoms should be tested and we would be able to proactively find and quarantine cases to minimize community spread.

So,all of us are “flying blind.” Please use this as an opportunity to learn. The CDC is a branch of the pharmaceutical industry and when they can’t push a drug or vaccine, they allow an infection to run rampant and unchecked,instead of performing as part of the public health system.

The good news: we all have to learn how to take care of ourselves! The last response should be panic,as stress worsens immunity. Am I restricting unnecessary travel? Yes, that is prudent, not fearful. Let’s give you good reference sites to reinforce our recommendations, this orthomolecular website provides especially good reviews on vitamin C. Next is a more comprehensive website, which is a great reference for integrative healing.

Iwish to further expand on the treatment recommendations from China, which has the greatest experience with this disease. In “Expert consensus on comprehensive treatment of coronavirus disease in Shanghai 2019” from the Shanghai Medical Association the most effective therapy found is intravenous vitamin C!

For prevention for everyone,I am adding one new recommendation, everyone should start vitamin C (I prefer “complete”C supplements like Systemic C and Ester C as they are also buffered and not as acidic) 1000mg by mouth three times daily. Yes, you must spread it through the day.

Whereas relatively low doses orally I think will help preventively, higher doses of oral vitamin C may not be enough for treatment. As you know,we use a higher dose than this (1000 mg every two to three hours) in our “Acute Viral Protocol.”

What would I do if I was going to a concert, or taking a plane flight, or any situation where my exposure risk was higher? I would get the IV Myer’s cocktail with 10 grams of C, that should have an effect lasting three to seven days.

What would I do if I had cold symptoms or early cough, malaise, fever? I would step-up to the Immune Drip with 25 grams of vitamin C. I would do that IV daily if I could(until symptoms resolve).

Doses of 25 grams or less have no danger, no negatives of any kind. For people requiring hospital care, they probably won’t be offered this life-saving treatment as the CDC/WHO is actively suppressing this knowledge coming from medical experts from China. It will be your job and your family’s job to request help for your infected family members who seek standardWestern care.

People in the area who can also do nutritional IVs include:

Ken Starr MD (805) 319-7372

Darya Boland ND (805) 226-5190

•We will add others as we find who is willing to see patients possibly affected by coronavirus. For our patients around the country and globe, look for integrative medicine practitioners willing to help you through this pandemic.

Doc, you started out strong in your article… but, changing from informational to influencer your standing fell to the bottom bordering on confusing the public more than they are.

You write and sound like an advertisement. I have worked from a distance with CDC asking for advice in my previous profession, and would not undermine them such as your article has for what they do.

A doctors standing in this case only goes so far, and that’s why the smart people always ask for a second opinion. Not sure what you are really trying to achieve here and it’s not helping.

Some good advice that I would expect from a medical doctor as to repeating what the CDChad said. But what’s with this supplement quackery. IV Meyer Cocktail?? Already debunked by the FDA. And all the vitamins C stuff. Next he’ll be telling us that “Airborne” was a really good OTC cure. If this guy is a real doctor I want him down at French or Sierra Vista helping insert ventilators and making rounds. All this integrative stuff is revealed for the quackery it is at Science Based Medicine. Check it out https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/

Is this guy saying that these various IV slurries prevent COVID19? Evidence? Hearsay? Personal belief? This is a serious time. Quotes such as “For people requiring hospital care, they probably won’t be offered this life-saving treatment as the CDC/WHO is actively suppressing this knowledge coming from medical experts from China.” is both irresponsible and dangerous to those who will become seriously ill. He lost me completely at that point, preying on the fear that the public feels and trying to sell what he has. People could die because of delayed care and even spread this to vulnerable people. This is not a time for scented oils or unproven remedies. No thanks.No thanks

Seldom have I seen a more wild presentation without a thorough disclaimer. This guy’s claims make Linus Pauling’s old vitamin C rants look tame. The CDCP and NIH have long, I believe, disapproved mega vitamin therapy by rigorous testing; is this article really wise to publish without suitable disclaimers?. .

I understand, and believe in, alternative medicine, so the preventive advice is appreciated.

But at a time when battling misinformation is so important you choose to make a political statement about the CDC. Unfortunate. I get your point, but they are not a direct branch of the pharmaceutical industry.

You sew disinformation as a result. Doctor you don’t need to lie to make your point.

The CDC is not perfect, but it doesn’t need to be undermined at this point in time. Which was your goal. And your point was political in nature, not medical.

Instead of pointing people to “boutique” Medical providers to dose up before travel you should; discourage travel and going to concerts in general.

Load up and go out is not great medical advice during a pandemic. Your advice would be great; pre or post pandemic. Not now.

novel, there is nothing novel about it. correction it’s called Wuhanvirus

Novel = original or new. As in never been seen before.

Science quit using geographic descriptions long ago when naming a virus or disease, but it is still the practice of xenophobes, racists, and the lazy media.

It was initially called; nCoV-2019. Now Covid 19 is its official name.

Why insist on something else?

Please use this as an opportunity to learn. Yes I will!

BTW first time in all history we can save human kind by:

1) laying in front of the TV;

2) enjoyably exercising;

3) eating healthy;

4) helping kind neighbors;

5) and avoiding annoying people.

LET’S NOT SCREW THIS UP!

Staying home, drinking beer, watching TV – gives new meaning to “patriot.” Works for me!
