SLO County Supervisor Adam Hill confirms suicide attempt

Supervisor Adam Hill

San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Adam Hill confirmed he attempted suicide earlier this month, in a statement released today. Hill attributes his attempt on his life to the stresses of running for office.

After inching in front of his political opponent Stacy Korsgaden, Hill chaired a March 10 board meeting.

A day later, on March 11, FBI agents searched Hill’s office on the fourth floor of the county building and Hill’s home.

Later that day, emergency personnel transported Hill to a hospital following an attempted suicide. Hill has been noticeably absent from county meetings since he was released from the hospital.

Hill’s statement:

“In the weeks leading up to Election Day, I fell into a bad episode of depression, culminating in an attempt to end my life. At this time, I appreciate your respect for my privacy and your understanding.

“I’ll have more to say later, but right now my main focus is on restoring my health so I can return to the job I love.

“I cannot comment on pending confidential investigations by the FBI except to say that we are cooperating fully with their inquiries and will provide news when we can.

“With COVID-19 consuming our daily routine, I’m grateful for the outstanding work our county staff is doing and am humbled by the people of San Luis Obispo County and their efforts to help one another get through this crisis.

“In situations like this, it’s easy to become isolated and suffused with anxiety. It can take a toll.

“Please look out for each other. Especially those who are most vulnerable. These are demanding times.”

The stress of running for an office he’s held for how long?, vs the stress of the FBI raiding your office and home?

Who wouldn’t want an unstable, suicidal, criminal as their county supervisor? Please, don’t list your names…..cuz we all want such a person to rule over us and make decisions on our behalf, right?

Well, CCN called it. I saw the story the Tribune put out, saying something without saying it, pretty pathetic really.

I think Mr. Hill should resign his seat if it brings him so much distress. No job is worth your health, physical or mental.

It’s too bad he did this after the election, because if he resigns now the Governor will appoint someone to fill the seat and you know he ain’t going to appoint the second place finisher, because she’s not a Democrat.

Had he melted down before the election, then the voters would have picked Korsgaden by default.

Now, they’ll have to hold a special election, because I can’t see the conservative majority letting an appointee serve a full term, four years is too long for an unelected appointee to serve.

No special election. Governor appoints, and it’s done.

Adam, it’s not helping that your first public statement is a lie. The stress of the election is not why you ended up in the hospital. No one believes that, including yourself. A simple exit from the BOS would be your wisest decision at this point.

Ok. So running for office was stressful but running a locked-down county during a pandemic is…????

My, my, my. Confirms all of CalCoastNews’ reporting of this very public matter.

Stresses of running for office…pffffffft

Stress resulting from being raided by the FBI, absolutely.

A mentally unstable County Supervisor. Great. Just what we need… but this isn’t a ‘recent’ development. Hill’s been unstable for years. How many days does he have left to show up for a meeting (before his sorry a** can be booted out)?

I guess he can’t do anything right….
