Vice President Kamala Harris

OPINION by MARC BRAZIL

The 2024 presidential election is perhaps the most consequential since the Civil War. There have been many presidential contests over the last several decades where Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives have lamented our choices but at least the candidates were in the range of normal. This time our choice might well determine whether we remain a nation of laws, a nation where our liberties are not in jeopardy.

I am a conservative Republican who until now has never voted for a Democrat. While I disagree with many of the policies advocated by Kamala Harris, I fear that Donald Trump will inflict great harm on our nation. Harris has made clear that she will consider differing points of view while Trump has made clear that his way is the only course.

No presidential candidate in the modern age has so set on dividing us rather than uniting us.

Trump’s lack of character is breathtaking. The constant lies, attacks on his fellow citizens and idolization of our adversaries disqualify him from serving.

Many Trump supporters explain away his vile behavior and cruel statements by suggesting that he is just kidding. I fail to see the humor. This man represents a grave threat to the United Sates. The Founding Fathers must be rolling over in their graves as are the millions of Americans who have risked their lives to advance the promise of America.

His threat to use the military to go after his political opponents, his obscene behavior toward many women and his demonization of illegal immigrants are unconscionable.

I agree that we need to reform immigration laws but let’s keep in mind that the overwhelming majority of people here illegally or trying to get here are doing so because they view the United States as a beacon of hope. They like all of us just want a better life for themselves and their families. Trump’s never ending lies about them being criminals or eating pets are outrageous and do nothing to help create conditions for policy reform.

Trump’s economic policy is based on a foundation of tariffs, to be imposed on both allies and adversaries. The reality is that the American consumer will pay the tariffs. He has also made misleading statements that the tariffs will allow for the elimination of the federal income tax. There is no basis in reality for this claim.

According to an economic analysis comparing Harris and Trump’s economic proposals published by the University of Pennsylvania (Trump’s alma mater), his plan would add nearly $8 trillion to the federal deficit while hers would add nearly $4 trillion.

Trump’s plan to deport millions of illegal immigrants would wreck havoc on the economy and be highly inflationary.

On foreign policy matters the power and influence of the United States would almost certainly decline as Trump would likely sell out Ukraine’s independence and be prey to the influence of Putin, Xi and the obese Korean dictator.

Please join me in voting for Kamala Harris for president. God Bless America.

A fair and accurate article, I applaud CCN for allowing someone to point out the con that is Trump’s third campaign.

In 2015 conservatives believed in small government budgets, reforming social security to sustainability, free trade, opposition to Russian aggression, and decency among elected officials, not only because character matters in the job, but because of the example it sets for our children.

In 2024 there is no conservative party, the GOP has changed all of the policies above because the only definition of Republican is loyalty to a 78 year old narcissist. Big government, insolvent entitlements, high tarrifs to be paid by the American middle class, ceding millions of Ukrainians to Russian imperialism and a man whose character is known to be in the gutter – a liar, cheater, and man without respect for the rule of law.

At this point there are a million articles out there, written not by wacky Democrats, but by men and women who have been committed to conservatism since before Trump was a Clinton supporter; National Review, The Dispatch, NYP, WSJ, NYT and Atlantic editorials all have attested to his unfitness. You should know you’re asking for it when you play so boldly with fire that you hope will just burn the fellow Americans you dislike. The fire will burn you too.

I’ll end with this. I’d hope that people still considering a vote for Trump would look at what Trump still says the 2020 election, what Trump did on January 6th, and most importantly didn’t do while his upstanding vice president and members of Congress were under threat of violence. Dereliction of duty. If Obama had lied about an election to stay in power, if Clinton had organized a protest the quickly becomes a riot that threatened Congress, if Biden had openly called for suspending the constitution. What would you think? True patriots would recoil at such disregard for the conservation of our Republic. To be fine with Trump doing all those things, and to claim to uphold American values is hypocritical. Let’s rid the GOP of Trump and the yesmen cult for personal aggrandizement he’s built, rebuild, and win in 2026 and 2028.

Let’s take a look at where the Author Marc Brazil lives. Do you think he deals with homeless people stealing stuff off his porch at his crummy apartment on the poor side of town? Doubt it. No financial troubles for Marc, nothing to worry about for the top earners in SLO. Do you ever think social mobility will let you join them? Never. You will never work your way up to affording a house in you own vincity because prices balloon faster that wages, so people with long established family goin back to, let’s see, 1869 like Marc have propoerty and housing. Always have always will. To make more housing means the equity and value of the rest go down. Hence homeowners do no actually want more housing and apartments in the their neighborhoods. And most of us don’t have our money in stocks and bonds like we are goin to be devastated by a market slump, that’s for the moneyed class, not the working class. Should I feel enraged for the Ukrainians and the Gazans, like us Americans are supposed to just help everyone everywhere? That’s how the next war starts. And immigrants, your infinite kindness towards them means that they will never stop coming. No border wall, I deportation, sanctuary policies, so why not? They aren’t begging and stealing from you are they Marc, and it’s not like you would ever personally house or sponsor an immigrant. That’s just anything thing that “everyone else” should just do because you feel the same. Their is something about being affluent that makes people want to “take up a cause” with all that extra time and money. California keeps telling us that “immigrants make us stronger”, but then we don’t provide housing, jobs, social services for them. So why are we so pro immigrant Marc? Your high minded ideals are about not sustainable.

Their are two different world that the have and have-nots live in. Where Marc there is no problems , and he doesn’t understand how you can be any different so vote Kamala or you are a misogynistic Xenophobe.

No thank you Marc. I’m weary from the past 3-1/2 years of totalitarian fascism coming out of Biden/Harris regime. Just living here in California is bad enough.

How much is her campaign paying you to promote her in your opinion piece? ;o)

Just curious. What aspects, policies, or actions from the Biden/Harris administration makes you label it totalitarian fascist?

Marc, My vote will have to go against the deep state. IMHO big government is the biggest threat to our country.

Vote policy over personality. 2016 to 2020 was much better than 2020 to 2024. 4 years of Biden/Harris policies have driven the cost of living through the roof.

Biden/Harris policy got 13 of our Marines killed in a very badly botched withdraw from Afghanistan. Unforgiveable. That alone disqualifies Harris from being commander in chief IMHO.

Policy over personality was Charlie Freedman’s (on KSCO) suggestion back in 2020, he’s probably saying it now.

Well said. We voted for Harris. Easy choice. The insurrectionist belongs in prison

You parrot main stream media almost exactly word for word, so good job on that. Harris is profoundly incompetent. She is either so willfully blind to the fact that anyone with a brain could see in Biden’s decline even before the 20/20 election, that it is insulting, or she is that stupid and didn’t notice. Either way, she isn’t capable of being honest, which is why she can’t answer any questions.

You bring up laws and liberties…really? I suppose your heads been in the sand for 4 years…your girl is flat out nuts! Boys CANNOT be girls, and to have opened the border like she did was beyond immoral, and she can’t even accept responsibility.

I hope you find a cure for you TDS.

No gracias

No thanks, might want to check out some new sources other than CNN/MSNBC to base your decision on.
