San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a 67-year-old Shandon man on Wednesday for allegedly sexually abusing children he gained access to through his illicit daycare.

Detectives determined Javier RiveraMojica allegedly gained access to numerous victims through an unlicensed daycare that he and his wife were operating from their home in the 100 block of South Fourth Street in Shandon, according to the sheriff’s office.

On Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office Detective Division served a warrant at the residence. Detectives arrested RiveraMojica without incident.

Deputies booked the Shandon man in San Luis Obispo County Jail on a no-bail arrest warrant for multiple counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14.

The investigation into RiveraMojica’s alleged crimes remains active. Detectives ask that anyone who has information related to the case, or anyone who believes they or someone they know may have had contact with RiveraMojica under similar circumstances, call the Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at (805) 781-4500.

Investigators are trying to determine whether there are additional victims or witnesses who have yet to come forward.

Sheriff’s officials say the victims in the case have been offered advocacy and support services. The sheriff’s office remains committed to protecting the safety and wellbeing of the victims throughout the investigation.
