Boats allegedly stolen during Cuesta Inlet giveaway

Some owners are missing their boats after thieves allegedly stole watercrafts during a cleanup and giveaway held on the Cuesta Inlet in Los Osos over the weekend. [SF Gate]
The nonprofit Save Cuseta Inlet ran a boat cleanup on Saturday and Sunday, during which participants could use a “Trash to Treasure” map to find and pick up a free boat.
Nonprofit organizers say some people ignored instructions on how to legally claim a boat. They attempted to steal or succeeded in stealing boats from the Cuesta Inlet, according to the nonprofit.
Save Cuesta Inlet’s website now states, “THE BOAT GIVEAWAY IS OVER! There are no boats left to claim. Please don’t ask, and please don’t come looking.”
Anyone whose boat is missing is instructed to contact the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Coast Station at (805) 528-6083.
