Santa Maria man arrested for having sex with a child

Santa Maria Police discovered a 19-year-old man having sex with a 12-year-old girl while responding to a report of suspicious vehicle parked on the 400 block of West Park shortly after midnight on Saturday, police said.

Ricardo Javier Rivera Flores allegedly provided a false name and date of birth to the arresting officer. The pre-teen’s name is not being released.

Officers booked Flores into the Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of committing lewd acts with a child under the age of 14 and for providing false information to an officer.

Ok To Everyone on here i personally know javie he was 1 of my best friend i know he messed up and i get it it was not right at all to have sex with someone who is 12 but i also know the girl he had sex with when i found out theat someone who had been there for me threw good and my worse times i was really upset it wasnt right for him or her but you dont know either of the people that this happens tos life you just see the headlines and judge them on both there parts they were wrong but remember girls in this generation are growing up very fast and having sex at younger and younger ages we look so mature you cant tell how old we are so i still support my best friend in his bad decsision and i know this ruined his life hes dumm for doing it but please remeber everything ive said on here because we are growing up very fast any questions about anything let me know

Again, where are the parents in this situaion. What varing, loving and responsible parent would not know where their 12 year old child is at midnight? Probably anoher friend of the family. Such sick despiable behavior. We’ll provide housing, medical, food, entertainment for this low life for years. Just great, another good use of or tax dollars.

Who knows exactly why the all knowledgeable legislators in Sacramento made it the way that they did, but whatever I am thankful they caught this creep and sad that a young person’s life has been scarred forever.

From my understanding, it is a crime for an adult to have sexual relations with a minor (which, in California, means age less than age 18).


However, having sex with a pre-teen is an UBER-crime, and may well qualify for a charge of pedophilia.

I always thought sexual acts with any female in California under 16 or 18 years of age was the cut off age for a crime
