February 18, 2010

A bill has been introduced in the California State Senate calling for the erection of a statue of Ronald Reagan to mark the former governor and U.S. president’s 100th birthday. [The Daily Sound]

Republican senator Tony Strickland, whose district includes most of Santa Barbara County, wants a memorial statue erected in Sacramento, where Reagan served two terms as governor. The project, which would be paid for completely through private donations, is estimated to cost $50,000.

SB 963 calls for the statue to be placed near the entrance to the State Capitol building in time to mark the centennial of Reagan’s birth on Feb. 6, 2011.

If the bill is passed, the state department of general services will commission an artist and instal the statue.

I liked it better when Reagan was president,we had Bob Hope and Johnny Cash,

now with Obama,we got no hope and no cash!
