Forward spread of Antelope Fire burning near Shandon stopped

Late Sunday evening, firefighters were able to stop the forward spread of the Antelope Fire burning in San Luis Obispo and Kern counties. The fire has burned 2,091 ares and is 20% contained.
Shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday , a caller reported the fire burning near the Cholame Y – the intersection of Highway 46 and Highway 41. The fire rapidly grew spreading into Kern County.
Officials temporarily closed and then reopened portions of Highway 46 and Highway 41, according to the CHP. Both highways are now opened.
