Blakeslee to run for State Senate
April 29, 2010
To the surprise of no one, Sam Blakeslee has decided to seek the California State Senate seat vacated by Abel Maldonado’s recent elevation to lieutenant governor. [Tribune]
Blakeslee is expected to make a formal announcement Friday morning at his Pismo Street house in San Luis Obispo.
The three-term Republican Assemblyman and former Cuesta College Trustee is expected to face a tough election challenge in a special election in August from Democrat and former Assemblyman John Laird of Santa Cruz.
Blakeslee told reporters that he will run as a conservative Republican who seeks to build consensus from Democrats.
