The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit is searching for an Atascadero man who went hiking Saturday morning and never returned home.

Richard Gates, 44, of Atascadero left around 6:30 a.m. to go hiking near Ragged Point. His wife told deputies he sometimes spends the night when he goes hiking.

However, when he did not return home on Sunday she filed a missing persons report. Deputies then discovered Gates’ vehicle parked near the Ragged Point Inn.

Gates is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall, weighing 290 pounds with brown eyes and a beard. Deputies said Gates is possibly wearing khaki pants, a long-sleeved khaki shirt and brown boots.

Anyone with information about Gates is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 781-4550.

May God Bless he and his family. With God’s help we will find him alive and well with a glass of wine in his hands along with a headache. Our prayer’s are with his rescuers.

” With God’s help we will find him alive and well with a glass of wine in his hands along with a headache.”

I should think this would eventually make his wife very angry. How about if we leave out the wine and headache part?
