Car crash kills Cayucos woman

A 21-year-old woman died Friday night after crashing her car in rural Cayucos.
The woman, a Cayucos resident, was driving herself and a male passenger in a 1999 Isuzu Amigo around 11:35 p.m. Friday. She lost control of the car on Picachio Road, east of Cayucos Creek Road, and drove down a steep embankment, hitting several rocks and coming to a stop in a creek bed.
The crash trapped both the driver and the passenger in the vehicle. The passenger, a 25-year-old Paso Robles resident, suffered minor injuries.
Firefighters pulled the woman and man out of the car using the Jaws of Life. The woman died on the scene from her injuries, according to the CHP.
Responders took the passenger to a nearby hospital for treatment.
