Grover Beach police searching for e-bike thief

September 9, 2026

By JOSH FRIEDMAN

The Grover Beach Police Department is asking the public for help identifying a man who was allegedly caught on surveillance video stealing an electric bicycle.

Police are circulating footage of the suspect walking up to the e-bike, removing the lock and walking off with the bicycle. The e-bike had been secured properly, and the suspect cut the lock prior to leaving with the bicycle, according to the police department.

“If it’s not yours… don’t take it,” Grover Beach police stated in a social media post. “Thank you for helping us keep our community safe and looking out for one another!”

The police department asks that anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information that could assist with the investigation call the non-emergency dispatch line at (805) 473-4511.

Find him, TELL US WHO HE IS and then lock that thieving LOSER up for awhile as I’m sure there is a rap sheet behind that mindset.

My e-bike has a lock that would take an electric grinder 1/2 an hour to cut through, if at all. This video makes it look like there was no lock at all. I hope the owner gets it back.

Do you ever watch videos of that guy that can pick any famously “safe” key lock in short order? He gets in my algorithm every now and then.

He does it to show manufacturers that any lock with a key is not safe in his skilled hands.

Lock Picking Lawyer guy? Yeah I know him. Very skilled and very rare talent. Your average junkie has no talent or time to break the lock I have, unless it’s carried away to a secure room with spare grinding disks and plenty of time.

as my dad used to say, “locks only keep honest people honest.”

No doubt he has an ex-girlfriend somewhere willing to turn him in.
