Debra Lopez had been missing since Saturday, according to the Atascadero Police Department. Around 5 p.m. Tuesday, California Highway Patrol officers responded to a report that a person walking on Highway 1 had picked up Lopez from a location near where the woman’s truck went off the road on Saturday.

Atascadero police confirmed that woman found Tuesday was Lopez, but did not say whether her truck plunged off Ragged Point of if she spent three days on the hillside. Police did say that Lopez was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.

Lopez’s husband reported her missing on Saturday after she left home to go to the store and never returned. Lopez left the house around 3:45 p.m. Saturday in a 1996 Chevrolet pickup.

Probably not texting. There is no cell phone service in that area.

No indication, that I can see, of Ms. Lopez’s age or previously-known mental condition. Atascadero to the Ragged Point area is quite a distance to travel to “go to the store.” Something’s not adding up here.

Surviving that plunge is nothing short of a miracle if that’s what happened! Unbelievable!
