Oriana Iris Garcia, 26, took her son Jack Gacia out of elementary school in Goleta earlier this year to move in with a man in Maryland whom she met online. That man, 30-year-old Robert Wilson, allegedly beat Jack Garcia until he passed out.

The incident occurred on June 30, and Jack died in the hospital five days later. During the incident, the boy’s uncle Jacob Barajas handcuffed him to a chair, and the boy’s mother sent paramedics away when they initially came to assist Jack.

Both Oriana Garcia and Barajas, her brother, face charges of second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse. Wilson is charged with assault and child abuse, and he may face additional charges after an upcoming grand jury hearing.

During the four months that the Garcias lived in Wilson’s home, Wilson disciplined Jack by slapping him, sparring with him and smacking his legs with a bamboo sword. Oriana Garcia told investigators that Wilson would also use handcuffs to teach Jack not to steal.

Police say Jack’s mother planned and participated in some of the discipline. On the evening of the final beating, she turned away the paramedics while Jack lay critically injured, handcuffed and bound to a chair.

Oriana Garcia had never met Wilson in person prior to pulling Jack out of school and boarding a cross-country train in February.

Maragaret Saleh, assistant superintendent of pupil services in Goleta, said Jack was a a challenging kid who was smart, but stubborn and uncommunicative in his early years. But, by third grade, he was ready to soar, Saleh said.

Many people think children in this generation are smarter

That is a myth, they simply have internet

What did any of you smarter or dumber really know when you were 9 years old

My dad once interrupted a beating of a young boy and told the father that for a boy is not normal for a boy to be a bit a little bit mischievous!

Where are the elders to guide the mid age?

The guy and his tough guy look, makes me want to tie his ass to a chair and beat him to the point where my hands are bloodied, sore and swollen.

BeenThereDoneThat,

This poor child was defenseless because it seems as though these parents were following the bible to the letter because of his alleged infractions.

“Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.” (Proverbs.22:15)

“Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.” (Proverbs.23:13-14)

Furthermore, it’s sad because even if this child tried to defend himself, there is godly doctrine that says otherwise.

“Whoever strikes his father or his mother shall be put to death.” (Exodus 21:15)

Pasoparent5 was correct about turning to our faith at times like this, but as shown above when doing so, it’s hard to be a true Christian by following all of the bible’s principles going into the 21st century.

You have perverted the Biblical principles in such disgusting way Ted. Discipline may be appropriate at times but no where does it grant anyone the authority to beat and torture a child to death. You might recall words to the effect of “thou shall not murder,” Your skewed pro-Christian stance on positions is doing nothing but driving potential believers away from the word of Christ. Sick, really sick.

slotired,

With the beating of children verses shown relative to this unfortunate story, how else is it than not being torture by using a rod as proposed? Therefore, how are these direct verses perverted in any way whatsoever? How can the verse stating that children that hit their parents should be put to death be anything less than what it states?

As for your statement that children are not to be tortured to death, the bible and Jesus disagree with you on this topic. Non other than Jesus condones the killing of kids that curse their parents: “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death. (Matthew 15:3) Usually this was done by the bible’s traditional stoning method, which equals torture.

The “command” that Jesus was referring too, and that was in effect at His time, was when Moses said: “Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.” (Exodus 21:17)

This is why I keep positing that it’s very hard for any Christian to follow biblical principles going into the 21st century. In closing, I hope that the biblical axioms listed herein do not drive you away from the word’s of Christ.

I will pray for you tonight.

Hey Ted, God called and said for you to give it a rest.

the guy paso,

Just got a revelation message from the Hebrew Christian God that I was to continue to spread the gospel as biblically given, and that your message was from Satan.

“And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 15:16)

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16).

you might want to go get yourself looked at. there is being a Christian/religious follower, and then there’s insanity.

Do you really think either of these dults where reading the bible?

Children are humans. We must treat them as such.

The sad fact is that these people don’t even understand how to be humane and loving. Most of the time there is alcohol/drugs, mental illness, and a history of child abuse in the parents’ background.

Why was this woman and kid still living with this guy? When she saw that he was mean, she needed to walk.

She got on a train and moved in with him without ever having met him in person. This woman obviously has plenty of her own problems. She also managed to trap herself and most likely perceived that she had no where to go. This is the kind of situation that we had in mind when CPS was created rather than what it has turned into. That mother should be locked up and never allowed to care for another child, not ever.

An exceptionally slow news day so you combed the entire United States and found a grizzly murder in Maryland to post in the local paper because?

If it bleeds it leads and it’s good for a click through. Something to show advertisers.

And the national news companies will one up you. If nothing grizzly enough happened in the entire United States they will comb the world for grizzly and then make you think it happened in the U.S. until you click through (the goal) where you find out it happened in India or China or Afghanistan.

7 billion people on the planet. You can always find grizzly if you look for it.

Well there it is folks. Go beat your children because it really doesn’t matter. Yea I know that sounds pretty far fetched and stupid. Kind of like what I just read.

Because the boy was from Goleta.

What is happening to my country?

This type of abuse has been going on forever. It was common, in the past, to beat children severely. “Spare the rod, spoil the child” is a commonly held belief.

I beleive that there are thresholds that should not be cross in news. This story although not graphic crosses into a dark world that nowbody should want to read. An example would be like a book on snuffing people or some other sicko subject. I feel this abuse is so outrageous that it is not read worthy. Just my opinion.

Jorge,

You better not be alluding to my Judeo-Christian bible and it’s horrific content and past history, that we true Christians have to accept ex post facto. Remember, our Lord is watching you in advance of the Judgment Day.

“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3)

Your constant mocking comments aren’t appropriate for stories like these.

A poor little one was savagely killed and we get it. You’ve made it clear with your repeated sarcastic posts that you’re not a person of faith–any faith.

But others ARE and after reading about horrific crimes like this, some of us turn to our faith for assurance that yes, there is a Judgment Day and yes, monsters like these murderers WILL be punished.

So please stop mocking God, the Bible, and Christians on this forum. You’d never mock Muslims (nor should you) nor would the moderator allow such offensive attacks on religion.

A person that is so fearful that they feel the need to defend their religion doesn’t have much faith at all.

Pasoparents, you have been participating in this forum for a long time. By now you should know which authors you don’t like to read.

Just skip Ted’s posts if you don’t like his way of expressing his message. After all, the only power words have are the power you give to them.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, pasoparent5!!!

While you and I get this TS guy, I doubt he will not continue to spew his warped understanding of Gods Holy Word on CCN.

Ted. The Bema seat of Jesus Christ, or the Great White Throne Judgement?

You choose.

ToHellinaHandBasket,

Calm down, you’re acting like a child that has just seen fireworks for the first time!

There is no need for you to get so upset over the inspired word of our God’s verses and narratives that are relative to the stories Cal Coast News produces. Remember, we’re a Christian nation, therefore, I am sure you would agree that the bible should be used to support these stories.

Pasoparent5,

I stated earlier how upsetting this story was. I am sure you’ll agree that by turning to our faith, our Bible records several instances where our God decided to personally intervene in human affairs by executing certain people for their sins. All I was referring too is since our biblical history is wrought with horrific examples of God’s direct judgement, I just wish He would have intervened and did away with these two despicable people before they were able to be a part of this poor child’s death, but He seemingly doesn’t do this type of judgment on the spot anymore.

Remember when our Yahweh performed instant death to who He decided did not follow His word or doctrine? A few examples being; the firstborn child of the patriarch Judah, was killed by God for his unspecified wickedness (Genesis 38:7). Onan, was executed by God for refusing to fulfill his duty to produce children with his dead brother’s widow (Genesis 38:8 – 9). Lot’s wife was immediately turned into a pillar of salt when she disobeyed the command to not view our God’s destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19:17, 26). There’re many other examples where God killed first hand, but you get the picture.

Again, I just wish God would be His old self once again and intervene for the benefit of situations like this horrible story represents. I am sure once again, that you would agree.

QUOTING TED QUOTING THE BIBLE: “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3)”

Like a pervy Santa Clause?

That would be “Santa Claus” Mary.

Mary,

I can remember as kids we always went to bed fully clothed on Christmas Eve for the reason that you mentioned. We precluded that it was a long time for Santa to be housed up at the North Pole and only getting out once a year, so we didn’t take any chances.

Then later on we realized that Santa was just myth and we were comforted by the following passage: “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.” (1 Corinthians 13:11) That being said, I still have to believe in the Bronze Age religion of Christianity.

This is one sad sick story, for sure. Rest in peace little man and God love you!

SLOBIRD,

This is truly a very upsetting story. We can only wonder where our loving and forgiving Hebrew Christian God was to allow this to happen. He certainly was aware of this cruel act, but unfortunately did nothing to prevent it like He use to do in the biblical era.

“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3)

“And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:13)

“Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 23:24)

I was right about the pervy Santa Clause deal…

SICK SICK SICK!!

DEATH DEATH DEATH!!! to Momma, Uncle, and Wilson.
