Hundreds attend pro-Islam rally in SLO

December 12, 2015

UnknownAbout 200 people attended a rally in San Luis Obispo in support of the local Muslim community. Attendees included pastors, rabbis and San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Adam Hill. [Tribune]

The rally took place Friday afternoon at the Mosque of Nasreen. Participants condemned Islamophobia and called for peace, love and compassion.

Discrimination against American Muslims has reportedly been on the rise since the recent terror attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, which were carried out by supporters of ISIS. The Council on American-Islamic Relations said in a recent report that the United States Muslim community has experienced an unprecedented backlash since the attacks.

This week, a pig’s head was thrown at a mosque in Philadelphia and a possible arson fire broke out at a mosque in Coachella. Additionally, numerous people across the world are angry over Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s remark calling for a ban on Muslims entering the United States.

On the side, some people are questioning the language of the Koran and the possibility that refugees will include Trojan horses focused on attacks against citizens of the United States. Trump’s lead in the polls was undiminished following his comments about Muslims.

No reports of physical attacks on the local Muslim community have surfaced, though.

During the rally, Rev. Jay Perry, of the SLO Adventist Church, said the golden rule is at the heart of every major world religion and people must treat each other the way they would want to be treated in the same situation.

Hill said now is a time for local residents to look at the community and see where hate and division is being spread and to fight it. Hours following the San Bernardino massacre, Hill blamed the attack on “hate media” and warned about “local hate media like KVEC, KPRL, KKJL and CCN.”

I would be inclined to just stand back, pay better attention to everything around me and let each faith deal with their own issues. The sector that is allowed to regulate risk is the insurance industry. Insurance premiums are based on actuaries and do not discriminate against any religion, race or creed. The stats can require higher premiums for those who blow up their cars, themselves or others. For some, it may be most affordable to stay where they are, a decision cultivated by their own. If strictly enforced this will resolved most issues and can be relaxed within a several thousand years.

Read in the Ragbune the term fear used. I am sick and tired of them trying to spin it the way they see. No fear here I am PISSED OFF!!! No problem with Muslims here, I actually haven’t given it a second thought BUT if you are found supporting in ANY way (Isis, terrorism, etc) then I have a REAL problem and don’t really give a damn how you are dealt with then.

So while families are still mourning their loved ones who were killed in cold blood, it’s time to come out and demonstrate for whatever stupid religion you practice. That makes sense.

Hypocrites.

They started their propaganda the night of the shooting when CAIR (Council on American-Islam Relations) in Los Angeles, Executive Director Hussam Ayloush paraded Farook’s brother-in-law in front of the camera’s crying, saying how sorry he was, and how the damily knew nothing about all of this couples’ intentions. You want to read scary, read about CAIR!

CAIR Los Angeles message: Islamic Lives Matter

“Hill said now is a time for local residents to look at the community and see where hate and division is being spread and to fight it.”

Hate and division is coming out of some mosques. One can not ignore reality after the events of San Bernadino. Adam Hill would like to have people believe that his opponents are right wing Brownshirts. This is an attempt on Hill’s part to obfuscate Hill’s embarrassing record of scandals and bad behavior.

“On the side, some people are questioning the language of the Koran and the possibility that refugees will include Trojan horses focused on attacks against citizens of the United States. Trump’s lead in the polls was undiminished following his comments about Muslims.”

Some Moslem immigrants are a trojan horse. The woman involved in the San Bernadino attacks was a jihadist and a few of the Paris terrorists had come to Europe from the Syria in the flood of migrants. That is the very definition of a trojan horse. No amount of rallies for tolerance can change the fact that Moslems who are recent immigrants have committed violent terrorist acts in Western nations. Furthermore, Donald Trump’s proposal to ban Moslem immigration and travel to the United States is constitutional.

Speaking Truth to power is called Hate Speech today….better watch yourself before Attorney General Lynch goes after you!

George Orwell’s totalitarian nightmare is alive and well in today’s America.

Drove by yesterday on my way to Morro Bay. Big crowd outside. Curious if anyone was invited in to the mosque?

“Pro-Islam”?!? Good article but the headline doesn’t match it. Folks supporting a faith community isn’t the same as supporting the faith. It would come as quite a shock to their congregations if the pastors and rabbis there were, indeed, advocating the Muslim religion. Of course, they weren’t. They were demonstrating support for people of faith who have been targeted in some places by words and deeds. They were advocating a cohesive and unified community.

The supreme irony was the inclusion of one of the most hateful, divisive and trash-talking members of our community. The message inferred from his participation is, don’t attack people on the basis of their faith; attack them on the basis of their political beliefs.

The God of Abraham, God of Islam.

War on Women….how about genital mutilation or Girls?

Oh you can’t talk about that…it makes you a hater…..sorry…go back to your peaceful love in while girls and boys are sold into Sex slavery throughout the middle east.

Along with the pro Islam rallies, communities across the world should hold anti-ISIS, anti- Jihadist, anti-Caliphate rallies to get the REAL message out.

That would be ruled Hate speech.

So be it!

Sounded like a great event until I read that Adam Hill attended and spoke about hate. Mr Hill is one of the most hateful people on the central coast. If the goal here was to promote peace and love they should be careful who they invite to speak.

Adam was seen handing out medallions.

Doesn’t Hill hand out medallions everywhere he goes?

Hill also claims that “no one has done more for San Luis Obispo County.”

The sad thing is, Hill actually believes his hype.

I don’t think Hill really cares about the anti- Muslim backlash, he used this opportunity to get some good PR.

So Adam Hill blamed the terrorist attack in San Bernardino “Hate Media like KVEC”, rather than on the true source, Radical Islam….wow….

I listen to “Hate Radio” all day long (King, Rush, Beck, and our local Dave K) and never ONCE have I heard anyone encourage violence or promote hate.

Could it be that our dear supervisor Hill is using a tragic radical Islamist terrorist attack to go after his political enemies on talk radio? Could it be that the real hate is from Adam Hill in the throngs of a political campaign that is calling his campaign cash and dirty consulting gig into question?

In the world according to Adam Hill maybe it was Dan Blackburn and CCN who was responsible for San Bernardino…anything to deflect the spotlight from him and try to discredit those calling him out.

Hate breeds hate, right Adam Hill. Could they have gotten a worst spokesperson, really!
