Hundreds attend pro-Islam rally in SLO

UnknownAbout 200 people attended a rally in San Luis Obispo in support of the local Muslim community. Attendees included pastors, rabbis and San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Adam Hill. [Tribune]

The rally took place Friday afternoon at the Mosque of Nasreen. Participants condemned Islamophobia and called for peace, love and compassion.

Discrimination against American Muslims has reportedly been on the rise since the recent terror attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, which were carried out by supporters of ISIS. The Council on American-Islamic Relations said in a recent report that the United States Muslim community has experienced an unprecedented backlash since the attacks.

This week, a pig’s head was thrown at a mosque in Philadelphia and a possible arson fire broke out at a mosque in Coachella. Additionally, numerous people across the world are angry over Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s remark calling for a ban on Muslims entering the United States.

On the side, some people are questioning the language of the Koran and the possibility that refugees will include Trojan horses focused on attacks against citizens of the United States. Trump’s lead in the polls was undiminished following his comments about Muslims.

No reports of physical attacks on the local Muslim community have surfaced, though.

During the rally, Rev. Jay Perry, of the SLO Adventist Church, said the golden rule is at the heart of every major world religion and people must treat each other the way they would want to be treated in the same situation.

Hill said now is a time for local residents to look at the community and see where hate and division is being spread and to fight it. Hours following the San Bernardino massacre, Hill blamed the attack on “hate media” and warned about “local hate media like KVEC, KPRL, KKJL and CCN.”

Condemned Islamophobia, but not the killing innocents by Islamic terrorists..


If we have anymore incidents like the terrorist murders in San Bernardino just watch how people react to these practioners of the “Religion of Peace” and to the politicians like Sheriff Parkinson, Adam Hill and Jan Marx who buddy up to them.


Parkinson is so tight with a few who have questionsble ties to banks in Jordan, that the FBI wouldn’t give him a security clearance when he was elected sheriff.


Muslims who are not sympathetic to Jihad should be condemning it in the strongest possible language; but they won’t because it is an integral part of their religion.

SLO mayor Jan Marx is also riding the local “hate media” campaign. She has told KVEC management that they need to shut Congalton up, in his presence. And when Marx and Hill go after left-leaning KVEC and the “right choice” KPRL simultaneously you have to ask what their true motives are. In the absence of these local stations they don’t have to answer. That’s why they want them gone.

Excuse me, left leaning KVEC? The same station that plays Rush Limbaugh, the right leaning finance guy Dave Ramsey, and then after Dave Congalton, the very right leaning Meagan McCain- that “left leaning” KVEC?


I can definitely agree that both Jan Marx and Adam Hill are raising a stink about KVEC because of Dave Congalton, and I know that to those on the middle to far right that Dave appears to be very left leaning, but as someone on the pretty far left side, I have to tell you that from where I view Dave and his comments, where he seems to stand politically, he is pretty much in the center on most issues, with a slight left lean on some issues. He is not a water carrier for the Democratic Party by any means, and he doesn’t seem to play “suck up” to most local politicians, so how about a does of reality? KVEC is nowhere near “left leaning”, period.

Islam isn’t the problem… except to the uneducated, uninformed and insecure. The US has much more to fear from far right fundamentalist Christians than those who happen to be Muslim… Probably be a good idea for more Christians to brush up on their Old Testament, if they’ve read it at all, before trying to compare Islam with Christianity. As much as I think that all religions are equally absurd and incomprehensible, I much prefer the company of Muslims to those who belong to the new twisted and perverted version of Christianity which has become so prevalent… If the US would like to prevent terrorism, they should probably stop creating so many “terrorists” by the illegal/immoral use of Killer Drones, bombings, mass slaughter, torture, invasions and regime change… Fascinating to observe so many in the US become so riled up and agitated after a shooting by Muslims, while not being able to understand how 10,000 bombs dropped on their nations could infuriate those who live there…

Did the people in San Bernadino do anything to hurt any Muslims? Did the 117 dead in Paris do anything to harm Muslims? Did the hundreds of people in the World Trade Center harm any Muslims?

Apparently, you believe that Muslims have some inherent right to attack anyone if they feel abused or insulted; that everyone in the Untied States is equally guilty for the actions of the government.


Jesus preached a message of peace, tolerance, forgiveness, and hope. Mohammed preached a very different message.

Did any of the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians who died since our latest invasion do anything to Americans to deserve their death?

There is also estimates of hundreds of thousands of civilian Iraqi deaths from 1991-2002 due to our destruction of their medical facilities and embargo preventing medicine getting to the people. They didn’t do anything to deserve it either.

I have no phobia of islam. (deliberately left un-capitalized). It does bewilder and disgust me though. You can try cherry picking the few phrases about love and peace from that rag of a koran, but it is like looking for a pearl in a cesspool. My message to the faithful follower of islam: you have been directed by your holy book to destroy me and all the other non-believers and Jews in the world. Bring it on bitches. Team Adam Hill is responsible for the Tenborg v Cal Coast News lawsuit. Charles Tenborg, ECO Solutions, was caught several times illegally dumping PG&E’s hazardous waste in the back of Cold Canyon Landfill. CCN reporters call Tom Jones at PG&E to ask if they know this is happening and all of a sudden this lawsuit springs up. Well…

James Wagstaffe, and he personally signed them. It will be fun to see the list of cronies called to the stand for CCN!

Adam Hill was a spokesman for this rally protesting for peace, acceptance and compassion. Really, this is the best this movement could get to support their movement and message, The one political person in this County that promotes disgust and hatred at his best. This, the say Adam Hill that turned his back on the CAPSLO Presentation made at the Board of Supervisors Tuesday for the good and compassion they have done in this County for 50 years.

I agree that it was despicable of Adam Hill to use this for his political gain. I do wonder though if the Mosque of Nasreen knew what he was doing. I think most people are unaware of the dirty politics because they are so busy with their lives. So I would doubt that the Mosque knew what he was doing. If they did, they would be appalled. That is why it is so important to have Cal Coast News uncovering the immoral and corrupt in the county.
