California Men’s Colony on lockdown
May 29, 2016
State officials placed the California Men’s Colony on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after receiving an anonymous tip that dangerous contraband had been trafficked into the prison by an inmate participating on a fire crew. Officials are not disclosing what type of dangerous contraband was allegedly smuggled into the prison. [KSBY]
Multiple agencies including the Office of Emergency Services, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife are participating in the investigation.
During a lockdown, inmates are generally confined to their cells with no visitation permitted.
The prison will remain on lockdown until at least Tuesday, or until administrators can determine if there is a dangerous contraband on the property.
