Andrea Seastrand

The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (HJTA) named former congresswoman and San Luis Obisop County resident, Andrea Seastrand, the “2016 Taxfighter of the Year.”

Seastrand currently serves as the president of the Central Coast Taxpayers Association (CCTA). She recently led the opposition to SLO County’s Measure J, a transportation tax initiative that is currently failing by a narrow margin.

As of Wednesday, 65.68 percent of voters had approved the sales tax initiative, and 34.32 percent voted against it. A 66.67 percent vote is required for it to pass. Some ballots still have not been counted.

In conjunction with HJTA, CCTA filed a complaint with the California Fair Political Practices Commission alleging SLO County and the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments (SLOCOG) illegally used taxpayer dollars to promote the sales tax initiative. The FPPC is currently investigating the matter.

An HJTA news release states Seastrand has been a vehement taxpayer advocate both in and out of office. Seastrand, who also served in the state Assembly, never voted for a tax increase, and following her time in Congress, the Los Angles Times called her the “promise keeper,” according to the press release.

“If anyone personifies the Jarvis ideal, it is Andrea Seastrand,” HJTA President Jon Coupal said.

HJTA is the namesake of Howard Jarvis, who led the effort to place California’s Proposition 13 on the 1978 ballot.

Seastrand said in a statement to CalCoastNews that she remembers taking part in that effort.

“I recall so many years ago, gathering signatures to place an initiative on the California statewide ballot to protect the forgotten taxpayers’ rights,” Seastrand said. “That initiative was Proposition 13, and was overwhelmingly approved by the California voters on June 6, 1978, and has been under assault ever since 1978 by the political powers-that-be at all levels of government. I will continue to do everything I can to fight to protect Proposition 13, as well as advancing the right of taxpayers on other tax issues.”

Seastrand said it is a great honor to be recognized as the 2016 taxfighter of the year.

Too bad you are not our Congress Woman!

I would vote for you.

I just wanted to say a special thank you for not only receiving this award but for all the ongoing work you do to protect us from our government spending all we have.

As I am out there buying needed items in my life I have commented to those that work at Home Depot and grocery stores and other services and the average person does not want to become Los Angles where the taxes are 10%!!!!!!!

Thank you Adrea Seastrand!

An Amazing Woman getting a Well Deserved Award!

Usually Former CongressWoman Andrea Seastrand educates and leads the charge to protect taxpayers without much notice. I am glad to see that her heroic efforts were noticed by HJTA.

This is a great honor and we here in the central coast should let her know that her never ending efforts are appreciated.

I ask myself what is next and will be opting in to read her CCTA,NEWS newsletter. Go here to optin http://www.ccta.news/contact-ccta/

You all should do the same as taxes are the favorite way to solve problems rather than reduce spending.

Thank you FCW Andrea Seastrand.

And don’t be afraid to ask what you might be able to do to help when the next fight is on!

Josey….get it together. None of that made any sense. We get that you have no use for Lavagnino and apparently Adam, but lumping all this together makes you sound a bit off. Bag on those guys in the SM Times and Noozhawk. We don’t care in SLO Co.

Mrs.Seastrand is a woman of her word.

She is gracious, tenacious, passionate and a local gem.

Congratulations on this well deserved honor.

14 counties struggled with a ballot measure to tax themselves

Out of those 14, 7 counties voted in the new “road” tax.

6 other counties voted it down

Our county is close to voting it down and largely due to Andrea Seastrand’s efforts being out there and fighting for the forgotten taxpayer.

Thank you for this huge undertaking…

Next vote count will be November 23 and at that time Measure J should be put to rest as of now the vote is held below 66%. It requires a 66.666666666% to pass.

Well deserved honor Mrs. Seastrand! I’ve admired your tenaciousness and ability to get things done for many years. Our County and our Country could use more patriots such as yourself. A huge thank you from this taxpayer!

24 years ago i had a problem with govt agency , i contacted Andrea and her office i provided all the info i had . She and her office did a 5 month investigation and sent me letter with their determination , that govt. agency settled out of court for 15,000.00 . I was truly impressed with Andrea and her office’s performance . She gets an A+ from me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Andrea Seastrand is probably the #1 fighter of higher taxes on the Central Coast, because COLAB, under Andy Caldwell and Mike Brown, has pretty much sold out to ‘sanctuary city’ politicians and higher taxes.

Why didn’t Colab stand up to oppose all the school construction property tax increases on the November ballot? I have it on good authority that Caldwell agreed to support Steve Lavignno and Peter Adam’s sanctuary city agenda, where legal residents pay more to support liberal giveaways to illegal aliens.

Adam and Lavignino take a lot of money from ‘Big Ag’ growers, and they make sure the growers labor source gets taken care of. Last December, the Adam Family Farm was raided by ICE and found to be employing over 300 illegal aliens.

Peter Adam is corrupt.

Just saying,

Josey Wales

Whoa!

Just read your comments Josey! What are you talking about?

Andrea Seastrand is President of the Central Coast Taxpayers Association and was awarded the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association Taxfighter of the Year Award.

If you are upset with COLAB make that a separate comment, my suggestion!

Either way thank you Andrea Seastrand for your dedication and hard work for me and my family!

The taxpayers hero. Thank you for protecting us from out of control government spending.
