PG&E could cut power to 7,700 customers in SLO County

As a safety precaution, PG&E could turn off the power for up to 7,700 customers in San Luis Obispo County early Thursday morning.

Electric companies use public safety power shutoffs to prevent wildfires in high risk areas. During dangerous weather, companies may temporarily shut off power to customers to prevent electric systems from igniting fires.

Because of forecast weather conditions, PG&E issued a safety alert for Thursday at 2:30 a.m. A map of the proposed safety power shutoffs is available here.

PG&E customers can check their address to determine their risk of losing power.
