California governor to pull National Guard troops from border

Gov. Gavin Newsom

Ratcheting up his clash with President Donald Trump, California Gov. Gavin Newsom is ordering on Monday the removal of about 360 National Guard troops from the border with Mexico. [LA Times]

In April, then-Gov. Jerry Brown granted Trump’s request to send 400 National Guard troops to the border. Brown said he agreed to the National Guard mission after persuading the federal government to pay for it and to keep the guard members under the direction of the state of California.

Brown also ordered that the guard members not enforce immigration laws or participate in the building of a border barrier. But, Brown faced criticism from members of his party and immigrant rights groups who argued that providing support to the federal government could free up U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officers to increase detentions and deportations of immigrants.

In recent months, at least five governors recalled troops or withheld resources for Trump’s immigration policies. The efforts to counter the Trump Administration’s immigration enforcement increased last summer after outcry over the separating of families at the border.

Then in October, Trump deployed more than 5,200 active-duty military troops to the border as a migrant caravan from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador was arriving at the United States’ southern boundary.

Last week, New Mexico Gov. Lujan Grisham countered by ordering the removal of most of the southwestern state’s troops shortly before Trump’s State of the Union address. Grisham said there is no overwhelming national security crisis at the border.

Newsom is expected to make similar remarks in his first State of the State address on Tuesday. Excerpts of Newsom’s speech have already been released.

In the speech, Newsom says he is giving the National Guard a new mission so that the troops will not participate in the White House’s “political theater” and instead “refocus on the real threats facing our state.”

Newsom says he will sign an order to redeploy the troops to support wildfire prevention efforts and expand operations against drug cartels and drug trafficking across California. Under Newsom’s order, a small group of forces trained in spotting narcotics would be stationed at California’s international points of entry.

“The border emergency is a manufactured crisis,” Newsom is expected to say during his address on Tuesday. “This is our answer to the White House: No more division, xenophobia or nativism.”

At the federal level, the ongoing battle over funding for Trump’s proposed border wall could lead to another partial government shutdown. During his State of the Union address, Trump showed little willingness to compromise, doubling down on calls for a wall and saying illegal immigration is a source of crime and a costly burden on taxpayers.

Newsom’s order calls for National Guard troops to be pulled back from the border no later than March 31.

Good call…since there is a wall there…

Good for Newsom to stand up to Trump’s manufactured crisis

I looked everywhere for something about “illegals showing up on the publics (sic) porches of their homes” in New Mexico. Crickets. But I did find these nuggets of information:

https://www.newamericaneconomy.org/locations/new-mexico/

Dealing with facts rather than rumors is important for a functioning democracy.

At the end of last week , the govenor of new Mexico released a statement ::: Its not a problem that hundreds of illegals are showing up on the publics porches of their homes ….Maybe the media should ask the homeowners if they consider it a problem and fear for the safety of their families

These hacks now seem to think that they were put in office to fight with the President of the United States, I don’t think that is their primary job but they seem to make it that.

Future voters 100% dependent on government will vote democrat. Also a few more seats in the house of representatives. Of course he wants to further wreck this state.

When I was a kid I remember even in Junior high they were really starting to scare us about the population explosion, that how we really need to reduce the amount of children we have otherwise there isn’t going to be enough food and there would be other problems, they called it the “population bomb”. It really scared everyone. But now that our homelands in Western countries are being over run, one of the big excuses for this is that the natives aren’t having enough children to “keep the economic growth”. I always thought there were a lot of flaws with that argument. The number one flaw is that I don’t think everything in life should be about “economic growth”. Let’s assume by importing the 3rd world that they all contribute to the economy (even though the data shows it’s a financial burden), is that what being in a country is all about? Economic growth? Or is it about being around people with the same culture and kinship? I think there’s something more to a nation than just looking at people as economic units. Being a German or American is more than just a matter of paperwork.

Destroy the nation for cheap labor. What could go wrong?

Well this could get interesting. Soon Gavin will be begging for the fire fighting support that our president already threatened to withhold. Pray that doesn’t happen because if it does guess WHO will be paying dearly for it with increased taxes.
