Fire burns 300 acres near the Carrizo Plain in San Luis Obispo County

A fire burning in the Carrizo Plain in Eastern San Luis Obispo County on Wednesday has thus far burned approximately 300 acres.
Shortly after noon, a caller reported the fire burning near the 9400 block of Soda Lake Road, according to Cal Fire. Initially, Cal Fire reported the blaze was burning 80 acres of grass with a moderate rate of speed. The fire had grown to about 300 acres by 2 p.m.
Firefighters are battling the blaze from the ground and air. The incident commander has requested additional engines, dozers, water tenders and an aircraft to assist the firefight.
