Amber Alert issued for missing girl who was impregnated by her father

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office announced on Sunday that an Amber Alert has been issued for 14-year-old Diana Galvez Ortega, the girl whose father is accused of impregnating her and hiding her from authorities.

Investigators are searching for Ortega, as well her father, Sergio Galvez Perez, 38. Perez allegedly raped and impregnated his daughter, who in turn, is being accused of killing her own daughter, after giving birth.

The infant to whom Ortega gave birth was found dead on the side of a road on Aug. 1.

Perez and Ortega were last seen on Aug. 4 at about 2 a.m. in the Salinas area, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives recently located surveillance footage showing Perez and Ortega in the Salinas area inside a white Nissan Altima with no license plates. Officials say locating Ortega and ensuring she is safe is their immediate priority. 

“We want to make sure her well-being is addressed and that she receives any medical care she may need,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities describe the teen as approximately 4 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 100 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. 

Perez is described as a Hispanic man who is approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He is wanted for numerous felonies offenses in which he allegedly victimized Ortega.

Sheriff’s officials are asking the public to focus on helping law enforcement safely locate Ortega. Anyone who sees Perez, Ortega or a white Nissan Altima with no license plates is instructed to call 911 immediately.

The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office has already filed criminal charges against Perez for sexually assaulting his own child. Last week, the district attorney’s office said it has not made any charging decision regarding the 14-year-old girl. Prosecutors said they were also reviewing potential charges against the teen’s mother.
