Paso Robles woman arrested in kidnapping and murder case
August 4, 2012
A Paso Robles woman was arrested Friday on kidnapping and related charges in connection with the kidnapped of 16-year-old Eunice Serrato from her home in San Ardo.
Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies and Paso Robles police officers participated in the arrest of Maria Aviles-Rodriguez, 36. Deputies then booked Aviles-Rodriguez into Monterey County Jail on charges of kidnapping, child stealing, child endangerment, accessory after the fact, conspiracy to commit a crime and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Her bail was set at $750,000.
Deputies suspect Serrato’s boyfriend, Juan Manuel Salazar Jr., 19 of Paso Robles of shooting and killing two men at a San Ardo residence on July 28 before kidnapping Serrato.
Serrato’s parents arrived home about 10 p.m. to discover the bodies of Hector Reyes, 33, and Daniel Fraga, 35, and also that their daughter was missing. Officials have issued an Amber Alert.
Monterey County Sheriff’s officials said Rogelio Aviles, 21, could be traveling with Serrato and Salazar to Mexico. Officials report Aviles is a friend of Salazar but have not yet stated if he is related to Aviles-Rodriguez.
