Political sign thief caught on video

November 3, 2012

Alleged sign thief

For weeks, signs promoting council candidates Kevin Rice and Dan Carpenter and mayoral candidate Steve Barasch have been disappearing from yards around the city of San Luis Obispo. Earlier today, a local man captured a video of a woman attempting to steal one of Rice’s signs.

On three separate occasions, Rice and Carpenter signs have been taken from the corner lot that sits off of Foothill Boulevard where the woman was discovered removing a sign. She claimed she wanted it for her room and that her name was Rice before she ran off.

Rice is asking anyone with information of who the potential thief is to call him at 805-602-2616.

Has anyone in SLO PD seen this?

This IS the way things are handled here so don’t expect this little offender to ever be caught – even with a photo of her! They honestly don’t care.

I had a partial license plate number and a witness to a hit and run accident (lady rear-ended me) and when I called to report it in progress,SLO PD refused to do anything! My husband tracked down the woman the next evening, got the entire license plate and positively identified her and the car (still had paint from mine on it) and found where she lived, and STILL no help – they were “too busy.” I took the next afternoon off from work and waited 90 minutes to see the watch commander – I simply refused to leave until someone would meet with me – and ID’d her in a photo lineup. The NEXT day the police finally contacted the woman and cited her. I asked to be informed of the progress of the case – nothing! She was supposed to pay restitution, I got one payment of $75 and Probation lost track of her! So don’t expect any help from the SLO PD – they are too busy!

Kids just don’t do this without discipline from parents unless the kid is spoiled and their parents are a part of politics and business corruption!!!

This entire series of events does not bode well for our very “Happy Town” and may be a “sign” of things to come in the very near future, if new candidates are elected to the SLO City Council. Lets give some new people an opportunity to turn things around in SLO. That would be the best “sign” the voters can post!

Lets see, stupid girl doing something stupid, then it all gets caught on “then runs off”. What a moron…

She might try bleaching her eyebrows to match her hair…

Kevin Rice is a lunatic! he chased this girl for a mile and printed out hundreds of posters to plaster all over her apartment complex.

This is more drama from Kevin Rice, who has not offered any fresh ideas during his campaign. If he is elected to the city council, you can expect more of this kind of behavior: a grown man chasing a girl around with a video camera. Carpenter may feel obligated to pay Rice back for getting him appointed to the city council the last time around but he should rethink the matter. Remember Rice’s video in support of Carpenter? If Rice is elected, pandemonium will ensue. The city council will be bogged down in conflict, turmoil, gridlock, and lawsuits. One would be better off voting for the girl named Rice than the Los Angeles firefighter named Rice.

Just this one. I’m right here. Ablute yourself of thine ignorance and vituperation.

This little girlie must feel like a colossal horse’s backside right now. She’s not only a thief, she’s a liar as well. Sad to see.

Let it go, Kevin! Allow the election to be free and open and transparent. Everyone knows you are Crusader, danika, SLO-shank and a multitude of other names. It stinks that your election signs got stolen. Maybe if you didn’t use so many names online to oppose your political “enemies,” real issues could be discussed and you’d have a chance of getting elected.

Everyone who has read CCN for a week knows I am not any of the above. Everyone knows that, unlike yourself, I post in a manner that identifies myself using this one single account, which was recently renamed from SLORider and has always linked to a personal website identifying me.

So, who are you Big Wise Jazz Sir? What innuendo, obloquy and lies do you have to add today that you are so constantly embarrassed to attach your name to? Come to the public lectern with your face in the sunlight, Sir. It would add some color to your veiled pale skin.

BS: I am truly beginning to wonder if you are galactically ignorant or if you are simply lying? I’m not Kevin Rice. Before you suggest I am once more please provide some evidence that I am Kevin Rice. You cannot because I am not Rice but you’re the one making the insinuations so the burden rests with you. We’ll all wait…

My own opinion is that no can be as ignorant as the character you project. I suspect you’re simply a liar. My real question is if you’re working for one of Rice’s (and/or Barasch’s/Carpenter’s) opponents if you yourself are running in this election?

Do you have the stones to enlighten us?

BS — I know Danika. You are wrong.

Big Sir says: “Everyone knows you are Crusader, danika, SLO-shank and a multitude of other names.”

Bullshit, also the log’s, they show nothing.

edit.. “galacticly ignorant” nice, I’ll use that one later.

They were probably in a right of way. Did CCN bother to ask the property owner where the alleged thefts have been happening to find out if the signs were placed there legitimately to begin with? If signs are not where they belong, they should be picked. Saves the taxpayers some money from having to call code enforcement from removing them . The only signs that I have seen around town that are on consistently on properties that way they are supposed to be are Ashbaugh, Marx & Carpenter – the reason why is because they actually know the rules about sign placement. Rice and Barasch signs have been duly noted in right of ways and not on property – not newsworthy though.

You sound like you are working for the Rice campaign. Rice can’t defend himself? Something smells. The jig is up, You can wise up, but you better do it quick. Grab a clue, please.

You must have a hard time with reading comprehension? Rice can probably defend himself, but the commenter (Joan) was asking a question of CCN in regards to asking the property owner. It is in the second sentence if that helps you. That is most likely WHY Karen is responding. Hmm pretty simple.

Thanks for clarifying Aunt Joan’s misinformation.

So you’re attempting to manufacture some doubt? Shame on you.

Here’s an idea, Aunt Joan: Why not contact the sign owner and report signs that have been moved to improper locations instead of becoming a thief yourself? I don’t think you know what is an improper right of way, because NONE of my signs have been improperly placed by me. I’m very interested in correcting any misplacement–or your misperception of such. (805) 602-2616. Thank you.
