SLO skeletal remains identified
February 7, 2013
A DNA match has identified the skeletal remains of a man found in a San Luis Obispo creek as a 51-year-old Texas transient.
The Texas Department of Justice identified William Grant Grable II as the man, whose remains a lessee of the Tank Farm property discovered in July 2012, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
After receiving notice of the remains, the sheriff’s office submitted the case to the Department of Justice for DNA profiling. The Justice Department identified Grable’s DNA in December, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice found a match on Monday.
Investigators have yet to determine the cause of Grable’s death due to the decomposition of his body, but they suspect he died of natural causes.
