Hallucinogen found in Spooner’s Cove drowning victim’s system
September 18, 2013
A Cal Poly student who drowned while swimming at Spooner’s Cove in June had alcohol, marijuana and a psychedelic drug in his system.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Coroner’s office determined 21-year-old Stefan James Wagner’s death was the result of a salt-water drowning due to multi-substance intoxication.
On June 20, Wagner dove beneath the water and disappeared. Eight days later, people hiking in Montana De Oro State Park discovered Wagner’s body floating in the water at Spooner’s Cove.
