Significant rain expected this week
February 23, 2014
Weather forecasters say San Luis Obispo County is slated to get significant rain this week, and possibly an El Nino next year.
A low pressure system is slated to bring rain to most of California on Wednesday with a possibility of four days of rainfall. Cooler temperatures and wind are expected to accompany the rain.
While the rain will not be sufficient to end the drought, it could bring 2 to 5 inches across the county.
In addition, computers models are showing a 49 percent chance of an El Nino next winter. The conclusion is based on warm ocean water temperatures that have developed off the western coast of South America that can bring significantly wetter winters to California.
