Investigation continues into Margay Edwards’ death
October 4, 2014
Sheriff officials investigating the death of Los Osos resident Margay Edwards said she had been staying in a hotel in Las Vegas prior to her death.
On Sept. 25, two men riding quads discovered Edwards’ decomposing body in the desert outside of Pahrump, a Nevada town near the California border. Her death is being investigated as a possible homicide.
The men found Edwards’ body about a mile from the home of a couple Edwards had visited in the past. While her family questions the couple’s possible involvement in the 27-year-old’s death, investigators do not consider them suspects at this time.
Her family last saw her on Sept. 12 in Los Osos and last heard from her on Sept. 14. Edwards was last seen in Pahrump on Sept. 14.
Deputies found Edwards’ license on the body, however, her car and cell phone are still missing.
The coroner’s office shipped Edwards’ remains to Texas for an autopsy, her family said. It is expected to take up to eight weeks to determine the cause of death.
Investigators are looking for a 2014 blue Hyundai Accent with California license plate 7ESZ966.
