Pismo Beach Mayor Shelly Higginbotham announced Monday her candidacy for the San Luis Obispo County supervisor seat currently held by Adam Hill.

Higginbotham joins San Luis Obispo Councilman Dan Carpenter, former Grover Beach Mayor Debbie Peterson and Hill in a race for the District 3 seat. The district includes Edna Valley, Avila Beach, Pismo Beach, Shell Beach and Grover Beach and a portion of San Luis Obispo.

“The 3rd District deserves a County Supervisor with a fresh service oriented spirit which respects all constituents, provides rational open decision making, and eliminates old fashion personal politics,” Higginbotham said in a press release. “With a responsive approach, reinforced by my years of proven local elected community service, I will work tirelessly to extend our economic and civic prosperity and, in so doing, enhance the resources to protect our exceptional communities.”

Higginbotham is currently the president of the League of California Cities – Channel Counties Division — which covers 25 cities in the San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties.

In 2012, the Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce named Shelly Higginbotham and her husband Dr. Robert Higginbotham citizens of the year.

OK its starting to get crowded here. I think the important thing is to defeat that malignant dwarf, Adam Hill. The CCN folks (a clear minority in our fair county) are aware of how filthy Hill is and how unqualified he is to hold any office. BUT the majority of voters are completely ignorant, so ignorant that they will vote however the Tribune tells them to vote. So, the more candidates with name recognition that throw their hat in the ring, the more likely it is that the votes will be disapated and that piece of pondscum Hill will be re-elected.

Carpenter, Higgenbottom and Peterson need to get together over a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and decide which one of them runs against the scumbag and then the other two throw their support behind that candidate. The sole goal is to unseat that scumbag Hill. Anything else is a mere expression of ego. People you need to focus on the end state.

You give the Tribune too much power. Does anybody still read the rag? Can’t even look at the grocery ads online anymore because of their new firewall that keeps out people who don’t pay. They’ve mastered the ways a newspaper can put itself out of business. Which is fine since they’re also irrelevant.

Simply open up a “private window” on your browser and you can then read as much as you want…

The KXBY listeners and Tribune readers….aka….the die hard Liberals are all they got left.

That’s easy, “hello voters, I’m Shelley Higgenbotham, Mayor and your intellectual and social superior. When Sonny and I aren’t wining and dining with the movers and shakers of this county, or trying to get my husbands business partners to join in on some get rich quick scheme, we are serving the interests of developers who want to turn San Luis into a version of Ventura County. I hope you understand and accept it is for your own good. Love Me!!!! Bye Bye Now..”

I’m waiting for the disgraced former Mayor of AG to toss his hat into the ring…

The ‘disgraced’ former AG mayor lives in District 4. Any AG mayor has to live in D4 in order to be eligible to BE mayor of Arroyo Grande.

It’s not rocket science, people.

Minor problem, remember SLO had a council member who lived in A.G. but had his mail sent to a rental house he owned in SLO, so all Adams has to do is take some of his hush money and stolen tax dollars and buy a house in District 3, rent it out and have his mail sent there, problem solved.

Someone with a bit more on the ball would realize my comment was made in jest…

Let’s see. She was BARELY reelected as Mayor of Pismo. Hubris…

Was Shelley married to Sonny when he got arrested and convicted for cultivation of marijuana? Not that it should keep her from higher political office; for all we know Adam may have been one of Sonny’s customers.

Is she John Peschong’s anointed candidate?

She will need to explain her support for the Price Canyon development

And parts of Arroyo Grande. That always gets omitted.

District 3 does not enter Arroyo Grande city limits.

Arroyo Grande has a rural component that is in Dist. 3.

I think that “rural component” is normally considered to be the “Nipomo Mesa.”

I never said ‘the city’, Kevin. My residential zip code is 93420 – Arroyo Grande. I live in District 3. Ergo, a part of Arroyo Grande is in District 3. That never gets mentioned when discussing D3 boundaries.

Just another day of living in No Man’s Land within San Luis Obispo county, unfortunately. :/

So now…three Republicans ( even if they don ‘t claim so ) against one progressive Demo crat.

GOOD ! The Rejecticans will cancel each other out .

Not true. One from the Republican central committee, one decline to state and, best of all, one Democrat who has a record of standing up to Adam and his ilk. I like Debbie Peterson because she has a non-partisan moral compass, is as non-political as a politician can possibly be and is tough enough to not be intimidated by the bullies.

Frankly, I believe strongly that it’s beyond time to take our local government back from the partisans. Last year that was a pipe dream but maybe more voters are beginning to catch on.

Slow slow slow…..don’t panic the Rebubs won’t put you in re-education camps for at least a few years.
