Arroyo Grande teen killed in crash near SLO airport

ambulance 4An Arroyo Grande teen died after crashing his pickup truck near the San Luis Obipso Airport early Thursday morning. The victim was 18 years old. [KSBY]

Shortly before 4 a.m., the teen traveling eastbound on Buckley Road near Highway 227. The teen was traveling on a wet road and was driving too fast for the conditions, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 18-year-old lost control of his Ford F-150. The truck slid off the road, hit a fence near the airport and rolled on its side.

Responders pronounced the teen dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the CHP.

No one else was in the pickup, and no other vehicles were involved in the collision. Authorities have yet to release the victim’s name.

An investigation is ongoing. Investigators are asking anyone who saw the crash to call the CHP at (805) 593-3333.
