Following a 30 minute standoff, San Luis Obispo police officers arrested a 39-year-old man for allegedly making criminal threats, domestic violence and battery.
Shortly after noon, a woman reported Omar Gutierrez had threatened to harm her at their home in the 1800 block of Homestead Place. She also said her boyfriend legally owned several firearms and that he had threatened to harm responding officers and neighbors.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim had fled the residence.
Out of an abundance of caution, a perimeter was established around the residence, neighbors were evacuated, surrounding streets were closed to traffic, and aerial drones were deployed to assist officers.
After approximately 30 minutes of negotiations, Gutierrez surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
Gutierrez was transported to a local hospital to be treated for a medical condition. He is facing charges of felony criminal threats, felony domestic violence causing bodily injury, and misdemeanor domestic battery
