Former Paso Robles principal sentenced to jail for drunk driving

The former principal of Paso Robles High School was sentenced last month to 20 days in the San Luis Obispo County Jail for drunk driving. The court also ordered Megan Fletcher to pay $1,923 in fees and spend three years on probation.

Shortly after 9 a.m. on Nov. 10, a school staffer reported Fletcher was intoxicated. Officers arrived, escorted Fletcher, 42, from the campus and charged her with driving drunk to the Paso Robles High School campus.

Fletcher admitted she was drinking alcohol the night before.

Officers gave Fletcher three breathalyzer tests, the first on the morning of Nov. 9 showed a BAC of .24%. Shortly afterwards, a second test showed a BAC of .25%.

More than five hours later, a third test showed a BAC of .11%, which was still above above the legal driving limit of .08%.

On Nov. 18, the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees approved a resignation agreement that included a $40,000 payment and health benefits through June 30, 2026.

Unchecked, the compounding consequences for her addiction will outlast her employment years. Very sad because addiction can be genetic, a situation that most of us are not eligible for. For some reason, I’m finding it harder to say, “to bad so sad”. For now, it apparent that she is in the wrong job.

Did she have any consequences for her previous DUI accident with a district vehicle?

Is there a relationship between BAC and your payout from the district? If 0.24 = $40,000 would 0.30 be a smaller or larger payout?

I’m guessing 130# and she started drinking at 8 p.m. the night before, meaning at 8 a.m. it was 12 hours and she was 0.24BAC and rising (leading one to believe she had brushed her teeth with scotch). That would mean she consumed almost 71/2 ounces of pure alcohol or 12 standard cocktails. But if she passed out at 1a.m. that’s 5 hours of drinking, not 12. She would have had to consume 16 ounces of alcohol. That’s 1.5 bottles of 80 proof.

I was once charged with a MUCH less hazardous traffic citation, yet the very LEAST I was facing, was 6 months, and up to a $10,000 fine!


I think I’ll go back to drinking and driving, it’s a lot cheaper!

She’s a victim. What a wonderful Democratic politician she will make. Fletcher for Congress!

Why does everything have to be about politics from some posters on this site? Alcoholism and drunk driving is not funny.

You are right, there is nothing funny about so-called ‘responsible’ people failing their responsibilities so publicly.

Also not funny is the collusion between California’s Democratic Party and public employee unions, which protect people like this irresponsible woman. Surprised I won’t be, if she appears later on, as a victim or candidate of some sort.
