Two homeless Morro Bay men allegedly greeted a female visitor to the city by threatening her and stealing her cell phone while she was in the middle of a call.

The woman, 49, was sitting in her parked car on Main Street near Atascadero Road around 4:15 p.m. Sunday. Frank Daniel Hudson, 57, and Chance Lee Otero, 50, approached her vehicle and made verbal threats, according to the Morro Bay Police Department.

One of the men struck the woman’s car with a belt. The second man then reached through the partially opened car window and grabbed the woman’s phone.

The person with whom the victim was speaking called 911. Morro Bay police located Hudson and Otero, arrested them and booked them in San Luis Obispo County Jail on Monday.

Police charged the suspects with robbery, conspiracy and witness intimidation. Both Hudson and Otero are still in jail.

Hudson also faces charges of violating parole and damaging a wireless communication device, according to the county sheriff’s office website.

Morro Bay police are still investigating the robbery. Investigators request that anyone with information about the case contact the police department at 772-6225.

Homelessness among CHILDREN has increased by 60% since 2006.

Make a distinction between the needy and the habitually criminal. If you don’t, those ‘broad-brushers’ that post here just have weak arguments based on fear and greed.

Don’t forget the g***d**mn disabled (40%).

AND the Veterans..

And slowerfaster what about this think called responsibility? If you can not afford to feed yourself then why bring children into the world? Why not wait until you can assume this HUGE responsibility? I feel sorry for the children. As they are VICTIMS of irresponsible adults.

sorry….”thing”called responsibility?

Do you understand math ? Where do you think the increase in our homeless of all ages has come from ? Most, WERE responsible before the economic meltdown of 2007-2008 that was caused by the big-shots …the ‘too-big-to-fail’ money traders and billionaires.

What we are witnessing is the CANCER stage of ‘Reaganomics’…Trickle-Down, conservatives and Republicans looting the public largesse ( the REAL welfare cheats ! ).

And the SUCKERS keep voting for those that caused and perpetuate this degradation.

The price for a lifestyle of covetousness, Morro Bay. In nature, the bigger, fatter beasts always attract the most ticks. You could always put a couple officers on full-time “creek patrol” but that would cut into your revered tax dollars. Might as well welcome the homeless with open arms. Always keep a dollar or two on hand (they only take cash), and be prepared to give up a phone or two now and then. Phones aren’t that expensive these days anyway.

Sloppy, so those that have worked their ass off their whole life to get what they have, or where they are are called “beasts”? Say it aint so!

Sloppy, do you mean my parents were wrong all of these years? We should not have worked hard, gotten an education, take responsibility for our actions, not rely on someone to take care of us?

Was working 2 jobs and going to school the wrong thing to do? Am kinda pissed off with my parents right now. They never told me I could just kick back and complain about what other people have as a result of their HARD work. They lied to us. Darn them! They always told all 6 of us that there was NO FREE RIDE.

Where were you educated?

Give them a job digging ditches while in jail, no dig No eat, no nothing!

The human body needs around 1,600 calories a day to perform manual labor. They wouldn’t be able to dig very deep, or long, ditches, in my opinion.

Just give them an unlimited supply of their favorite food called “meth” . Am betting they could dig for days!

Maybe. I know that some fishermen do it to stay awake the long hours.

HMMM I think NOT. No respectable fisherman with a family to support.

It’s called, “COFFEE.”

How did eleven people just give a thumbs-down to calories?

Get used to it, Morro Bay. Soon there will only two demographics left that can survive: the Have-More-Than-They’ll-Ever-Need’s and the Have-Less-Than-Nothing’s. This is what happens in a place that worships The Dollar and The Ocean View.

Au contrare, nothing wrong with moderate pursuit of prosperity, Slophocles, nor with preservation of an Ocean View. Your fear of two diametric demographics is more likely to come about from the Worship of Regulations, Opposition to hard work and free enterprise, and more taxes to support huge government salaries/pensions.

As to these two men, just jail ’em in Parkinsons Palace. The fear of 300% inmate death rate should frighten anyone into going straight.

Diametric demographics are not uncommon in highly desirable areas to live, just inevitable. And let’s cut the crap for once and for all – no one in this country is working that much harder than anyone else.

Sloppy….some are not working at all. You sound wounded. Perhaps the central coast is not a place for you to call home? Why be upset with people that “have” . Am sure they would not “have” unless they lived within their means. You could do that too, and not be so disgruntled.

Sloppy………perhaps you should research this market. We made some $ investing there.

Then you too can have that nasty ol ocean view!

I think that you have drawn the wrong conclusion about some people not working harder than others. It is an easy mistake to make because of the weak ties between hard work and financial success. Working hard does not guarantee wealth by itself. There are a lot of people working service and blue collar jobs who are grossly underpaid if the effort they put into their work was the sole justification for pay. (I think many are underpaid even taking into consideration other factors.)

However, working smart (a nice vague term), being able to sell oneself, being born to or raised in an upper-class culture and other less-admirable traits also have big effects on earning power. There are wealthy people who don’t work that hard and poor people who do as well as the converse so your statement is not at all accurate.

Actually, I think that is pretty close to exactly what I was saying.

All of this is correlated to the current city council and planning commissions desire to raise fees and allow no building in town. Anyone on a fixed income is doomed. The people who built this city will be forced to move away. Elections have consequences.

Don’t like our ocean view sloppy? Then move.

Charming young men.

They look pretty old to me.

Chance doesn’t look like a bad guy.

Hey sloppy….what does a “bad guy” look like? Lenny Jones?

The homeless are no longer an endangered species, and we can discontinue our costly protections for them. They can survive and prosper without our intervention.

When did they get taken off the endangered list?

Can’t remove them from the list or the govt department responsible for their oversight would lose their jobs.

Rumor has it, this took place at the new visitors/welcome center Iron’s established at 41 and Main. These guys were hired as ambassadors to the city and tasked with greeting visitors the proper way. WELCOME TO MORRO BAY.

Not a rumor. It was in the 1700 block of North Main. Very rough neighborhood. There’s a Taco Bell there.

bahahahahahahahaha “rough neighborhood” You mean where the Briar Pit used to be? FRIGHTENING!!!! LOL!!!!

Sure you were not living here then “SLOP” . We had a great time in that Taco Bell neighborhood!

Sure I was. I was there the night Camel Back Dave and Swizzlestick Larry got in a fight over whose wife was the ugliest. They had both just gotten back from a tuna trip and if you’ll remember, Hooknose Willy had to break it up and then the bartender gave him some extra beer tokens. Remember those little red tokens that were good for one draft beer? Those were the days, givemeabreak, uh?

These two were living alongside Hwy 41 along with 5-10 other homeless in motorhomes and trailers, they have been there for many months welcoming visitors to Morro Bay by holding up a gas can for donations or jumper cables for help with their P.O.S motorhome. They had quite a camp until last week, Oh yea, one of them just left their motorhome and it had to be towed, what ever happened to fines for littering? Bravo to Morro Bay (Beautiful, not) way to welcome visitors. And at the other end of town there is the skinny freak of a guitar playing friend of theirs, welcoming everyone that comes to Morro Bay. Really makes me want to visit with my family and children.

Where do they park? Just on the outskirts or in the city limit?

Pelican1, I just DON’T believe you! Perhaps they could work in the “community” garden?

Pelican1, prhaps we should give all of them the old Jamie Irons for Mayor signs lying around? They could wave them as our only resource of $ is entering town?

The true face of homelessness. Drug addicts and thieves.

Let’s build them a multi-million dollar facility so they will continue to flood our towns.

Don’t forget the g***d**mn disabled (40%).

There is no Homeless problem in Morro Bay…look away….tourist town….smiles everyone for the Bakersfield Tourists coming next weekend.

Lift Rug….sweep under.

So Rich in MB, what is your solution?

We used to have a THRIVING working community made up of fishermen and women, people that worked down in the power-plant, construction workers etc……now that King Irons and the council majority has stood behind pulling the plug on all..what is your suggestion?

correction…..”did not have a “view” sorry …not good at typing and walking. Please forgive my grammatical errors.

Come to think of it our first home had no view. It consisted of 2 shacks ready to fall down on a lot out in north MB. We were not angry at those that had a view, but inspired to do better. “BETTER” to everyone is different. We respect that. Our “better” comprised of working harder, doing with less in some aspects in order to obtain our dream. Our dream consisted of a ocean view. (Damm us!) and the ability to pay off our home someday.

You sound on the verge of a psychotic break. I am genuinely worried about you and I don’t even know who you are.

… I’m not buying the whole “my childhood and my parents were great bit”. I hear the pain beneath the words.
