Attempted kidnapping suspect spotted masturbating in Avila Beach

San Luis Obispo County Sherif’s deputies have arrested the man who allegedly tried to kidnap a woman on an Avila Beach hiking trail earlier this week. The man was also reportedly seen masturbating in a nearby parking lot.

Jose Alfredo Martinez, 41, grabbed a woman who was walking on the Avila Ridge Trail Monday afternoon and attempted to drag her into nearby bushes, according to the sheriff’s office. The woman broke free, ran off and reported the incident to authorities.

Martinez, a Santa Maria resident, managed to evade capture on Monday, even though sheriff’s deputies searched the area with the assistance of a California Highway Patro helicopter.

On Tuesday, three women from New York reported seeing a man openly masturbating about two yards away from them in the Pirate’s Cove parking lot. The incident occurred around 2 p.m., and the man matched the description of the attempted kidnapping suspect.

Investigators, though, did not find Martinez until the following day. A sheriff’s deputy spotted him on the nearby Shell Beach Bluff Trail around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Martinez was shirtless and wearing baggy shorts at the time. He was arrested without incident and charged with attempted kidnapping.

Martinez also had a warrant for his arrest in Santa Barbara County for failing appear in court on a charge of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

The sheriff’s office is still investigating Martinez’s activities. Anyone who was hiking in the area at the time and saw Martinez or was approached by him is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 781-4550.

Martinez is currently in San Luis Obispo County Jail with his bail set at $100,000. The jail website lists Martinez as being 5 feet 5 inches tall and 160 pounds.

This guy has been hanging around the beach all week, lounging around in the sun, nothing better to do than try and kidnap women and masturbate. Seems like he needs a job to keep his hands busy; maybe this can be the first employee for the avila pier project! He seems very “handy”. We can pay him in playboys and tubesocks.

No matter what kind of job he had, he still wouldn’t have been able to afford a SLO County apartment of any kind. If he could have, and could have also afforded high-speed internet, he would have had access to unlimited pornography, and this may have never happened. He may have spent part of his paycheck on an economy-sized bag of tubesocks from Walmart and never left his humble abode except to go to his job which probably would have been washing dishes at one of the places you eat. The lesson here is clear: provide the people of this county with affordable housing or they may just lounge in your sun, try to kidnap your women, and masturbate in your public.

Interesting analysis, Slophocles, because you may be the first one in this County to espouse a new solution from the far far outer space left as to handling sexual criminals. Give them a furnished home, free internet/pornography access, free food and health care, and they won’t commit crimes.


IMO, chemical or physical castration is a better solution, and you forget about the elements of control and subordination in sexual crimes, but, hey, there are people out there already seeking illness status for pedophiles, so I may be just an old, out of date, white privilege taxpayer trying to deny civil rights to sex offender criminals.

Maybe it’s time for a little out-of-the-box thinking and we should give my idea a shot. After all, SLO County sun is some of the best in the world for lounging around in, our women are very beautiful and sexually desirable (hence “kidnappable” to your run-of-the-mill kidnapper), and as far as publics to mastuarbate in, I think we can all agree that there are few publics better. I don’t think these masturbating kidnappers are going anywhere anytime soon and the important thing is to get them off our streets and out of our bushes ASAP. Our sun is just going to keep getting more and more loungable, our women more and more kidnappable, and our public more and more inviting to open masturbation.

As we true Christians know, our Hebrew Christian God killed Onan because he wasted his semen in masturbation. Therefore, Jose Alfredo Martinez can thank his lucky stars that our God didn’t kill him as well right on the spot! While Jose is jail, he needs to read the bible so he can get right with our version of God so his ungodly antics will not be repeated.

What makes this story even more ungodly is the fact of Mr. Martinez trying to kidnap a Sister of Eve earlier in the week. By being a Christian Nation, and If we follow bible principles, then unfortunately Mr. Martinez is looking at another death sentence.


“He who kidnaps a man, whether he sells him or he is found in his possession, shall surely be put to death.” (Exodus 21:16)


“If a man is caught kidnapping any of his countrymen of the sons of Israel, and he deals with him violently or sells him, then that thief shall die; so you shall purge the evil from among you.” (Deuteronomy 24:7)


As we Christians understand, it’s very hard to follow our God’s words in the 21st Century and not end up in jail as well. Let us pray.

Mr. Martinez is no doubt a sinner, but all true Christians should follow the Lord’s precepts, and give him a hand on the path to redemption !

So true. a helping hand for sure in his promised redemption and forgiveness. We as true Christians have to forgive Mr. Martinez for his ungodly acts, as Jesus proffered in the New Testament. By doing so, he’ll be in heaven and we’ll get to see him and ask what the hell were you thinking in the first place. Praise!
