California Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered bars and dine-in restaurants to close statewide earlier today in response to a surge in coronavirus cases. In addition, counties on the monitoring list for three days are required to shut down worship services, beauty and barber shops, and protests.

San Luis Obispo County was added to the monitoring list on Monday because it has had more than 100 new cases per 100,000 residents over a 14 day span. SLO County is at 114 new cases in two weeks and expected to require further closures on Thursday. Counties on the state watch list include Monterey Ventura and Santa Barbara.

After three days on the watch list, Gov. Newsom has ordered the following businesses closed:

  • Fitness centers
  • Worship services
  • Protests
  • Offices for non-essential sectors
  • Personal care services, like nail salons, body waxing and tattoo parlors
  • Hair salons and barbershops
  • Malls

All counties are required to close:

  • Dine-in restaurants
  • Wineries and tasting rooms
  • Movie theaters
  • Family entertainment centers (for example: bowling alleys, miniature golf, batting cages and arcades)
  • Zoos and museums
  • Cardrooms

Isn’t it interesting that California was listed today as one of the top states recovering from the economy. This is EXACTLY what Newsom doesn’t want. He will keep everyone in lock down, shudder businesses until November and then miraculously everything will be fine. The statistics are being manipulated for political gain.

You are full of it! 100,000+/- daily cases in the US reported in ONE DAY! What are Georgia, Texas, Arizona, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, etc. etc. all in this grand conspiracy of Newsome’s? Check yourself in to the wacko joint, brother! You never wise up, do you? Your own grandmother could be on her dead bed and you STILL wouldn’t get it!! Jumping in … you have jumped off planet reality.

shutter not shudder, but yes, we should shudder.

What direction do you have that tin foil hat pointed towards? I can’t quite find that frequency Kenneth.

If newsome didn’t want our economy recover then why open at all? When he initially set the metrics for reopening only a few middle of nowhere counties met those metrics so a couple of days later he changed them so most counties could reopen.

The article indicates San Luis Obispo County had 114 new cases in 14 days.

Here are the true facts:

San Luis Obispo County has had 395 new cases in the last 14 days

San Luis Obispo County has had 241 in the last 7 days

Get the facts here : https://www.emergencyslo.org/en/positive-case-details.aspx

They are saying a rate of 114 per 100k population.

This is a preventable disease. We have the power. Wear your mask, social distance, wash your hands, if sick stay home. We have the power to save our restaurants, bars and wineries. We/YOU can do this!

When you close down all the beaches south of SLO then the rest of California flocks to SLO beaches.

Shouldn’t be at all surprising why we are shutting down again.

More like Bakersfield and Fresno, with the Valley heat, will be coming our way. Best to close the beaches and post signs on entrances to SLO County.

Our vaccine future? A King’s College London study of the antibody responses of 90 patients and health workers suggests, that like a common cold, the coronavirus can re-infect people, even if they developed antibodies during their first infection. The potency of the antibodies fell by as much as 23 times over the three months, the study found, and in some cases were undetectable at the end of that period of time. Professor Robin Shattock of Imperial College London said that while reinfection would probably be “less severe” because of people retaining “immune memory,” the risk of them passing on the virus meant they would likely have to receive boosts of the vaccine on a regular basis. “Ultimately this may require the use of annual boosting immunizations, particularly for the most vulnerable. This could be delivered alongside annual influenza immunizations,” he said. The study has not yet been peer-reviewed.

The herd will never get herd immunity without exposure, shall we bankrupt the country hiding for years, or be smart and mask up??? Shutting the entire state down is crazy.

Herd immunity is not going to happen. The potency of the antibodies doesn’t stick for longer than three months, see above study.

OK, tell us Dr. Mazin, wise sage, what is your solution. Just stay home all locked up, gripped by fear, and wait for the “all clear” from leaders like Newsome, Harmon, Pellosi, …

Really now, let’s try and not be political, ( me included) please be specific and please don’t cop out and claim, “just follow the science.” What about the science from Australia, Sweden, Canada, Iceland, Switzerland, and May places in Asia. Should we ignore them?

You know, It’s not that big a deal to just stay home and order delivery, etc if you are retired or don’t have kids and worried about making a mortgage or rent payment. But what about others? People that aren’t in such a good position,

I get you don’t like Trump but rather than engage in partisan politics like many of your comments in this blog, , how about getting off of the hate Trump train for a bit, what is your compressive solution?

I’m all ears…

response posted on next page

More testing and more testing plus aggressive contact tracing and real enforcement of face coverings etc. thats how other countries have been able to get this under control but from the very beginning our country has failed all of the above

So we should sacrifice our family members and get them exposed or just other peoples family’s? Like the idiot covid parties?

“or be smart and mask up” I wish they would, every place I went today had exposed nose’s, people pulling down the mask to talk and so on.

“Shutting the entire state down is crazy.” Yes, but less crazy then people who won’t mask up, acting like spoiled little children. They are the ones dragging this out, the trumpkins and the facebook trained doctors and scientists.

Covidiots are the cause of all of the re-closings of businesses across the country.

Wear your mask, you will be protected, those that don’t might get exposed, but make it a choice.

Don’t let YOUR FEAR dictate my life, stay home, stay in, your choice.

But don’t let your choice control society’s behavior.

“Don’t let YOUR FEAR dictate my life” Lol that is all you, I am not afraid of science, it’s so simple.

“those that don’t might get exposed, but make it a choice.” to expose others? So others can get sick? That makes “others” selfish assholes who don’t care about people.

“But don’t let your choice control society’s behavior.” that makes no sense.

It is simple if someone does not have a face covering in public these days, they are assholes.

Oh but muh rights, lol

ps, be sure to remove your cars seat belts and airbags, just more of that government over reach, right? Helping to keep people safe, f them right?

I TRIED to listen to his press conference, he’s just so hard to listen to, uhhhh, uhhhh and his robotic speech delivery drives me crazy. On the issue at hand, I’m wondering what the “penalties” are for not abiding by the Orders? AND, what will happen if the protesters go ahead and stage more protests? Oh, yeah, (sarcasm) they’ll be ok if they’re wearing their masks, right? HA, then why can’t other businesses still do that? Would be interesting to see what would happen to a business vs the damn protesters, just say’in.

If you paid attention you would know that the protests are not the problem.

But don’t let facts get in the way.

Kettle- what utter nonsense. What super power protection do liberal protesters have that the virus isn’t transmitted during their protests? The conservatives protesting the shut down from their cars were a dire threat but not when liberals protest in massive crowds?

“What super power protection do liberal protesters have….”

The rates of transmission are higher in closed indoor rooms vs outdoors. It does not matter what flavor the protests are, outdoor crowds are somewhat safer than indoor crowds, bars etc with more fresh air. Less particulates from people especially the maskless covidiots.

I never brought up liberals or that the virus isn’t transmitted or cars were a dire threat that’s all you being offended over a reply to someone else.

I guess the mask mandate from a month ago didn’t slow the spread like people hoped. I guess we should’ve known… it didn’t work for LA when they enacted the mask mandate 2 months ago. Hopefully the state fares better with bar and restaurant closures than LA did.

If people wore face coverings but it’s 50/50 around here. I don’t feel sorry for the businesses that aren’t enforcing the face covering mandate

Why should businesses be required to become law enforcement? They aren’t trained for that.

It’s not ideal but who else is going to do it. Most businesses I’ve been in don’t even make their employees follow it. I’d be out spending more money but I walk out if a business isn’t enforcing it. So far I pretty much go to the grocery store where I’ve seen about 95% compliance. My family has people who are susceptible and I’m not going to take a higher risk because people/businesses can’t do a few simple things.

“Who else is going to do it?”

Good question.

So are businesses supposed to issue the citations too?

Law enforcement? So what you are really saying is businesses on private property should not tell/require you or someone to use a mask?

Shoes and shirts in restaurants? Have to be of age to drink alcohol? Seems to work with out LE, most of the time. We can always call for a unit when some snowflake has a meltdown in the parking lot when we refuse them entry without a cover.

putting on a mask is sooo hard.

They all have signs posted so they are telling people. If they want to be anal about it if people don’t wear masks call the cops for a tresspasser. Most businesses aren’t that anal.

Purely anecdotal, but I’ve noticed the vast majority of people wearing masks around here, at least in stores. Tourists in Pismo, not so much. But it’s also hard for individual employees to coerce customers to wear masks. Either way, it’s not necessarily the minor number of people without masks causing the virus numbers to spike. A lot of those numbers come from group get togethers (i.e., graduation parties, bbqs, etc). A lot come from community transmission – with bars being called out quite a bit. But I’ve been disappointed with the lack of communication about where the likely community transmission sources were, based on contact tracing. Generally, all I’ve usually heard is “bars.” If that’s the case, why didn’t Newsom just start by closing down bars?
