Paso Robles woman sentenced to prison for attempted murder

A Paso Robles woman was sentenced to nine years in prison on Wednesday for attempting to murder a teen with a pocket knife. [Tribune]

On Jan. 14, 2020, Michaela Twyman, 25, stabbed a then-16-year-old boy in the neck in a trailer parked in the Woodland Plaza parking lot. She then fled the scene.

Paramedics transported the teen to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, where he underwent surgery. The teen suffered serious injuries, but he survived.

Two days later, officers found Twyman walking on railroad tracks just south of San Miguel. After officers interviewed Twyman, they arrested her and booked in San Luis Obispo County Jail.

Last month, Twyman pleaded no contest to charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

On Wednesday, a judge sentenced Twyman to five years in prison for attempted murder, plus four years in enhancements for causing great bodily injury and using a deadly weapon. The judge also gave Twyman a four-year sentence for assault with a deadly weapon, but ruled it will run concurrently with the Paso Robles woman’s sentence for attempted murder.

Twyman’s convictions count as two strikes in California’s three strikes sentencing system.

Paul Greco, Twyman’ attorney, said his client was suffering from mental health problems at the time of the stabbing.

WOW 5 years for attempted murder …she’ll be released in 2 years from state prison , with her county time credit calculated in …Shouldn’t she have been charged with child abuse and child endangerment the victim is 16 years old .This isn’t her first rodeo , the 2 strikes will be her ultimate noose around her neck for the rest of her life … She best straighten out her act and take advantage of all the education and vocational schooling the prison system offers

From the rating for the post it seems like the North County Proud Boys can dish it out, but not take it. The SLO homeless aren’t stabbing anybody in the neck at last check. Maybe more homelessness but less meth?

I wonder what kind of PTSD the boy will have later in life? He certainly will have his guard up.
