Jeanette Trompeter becomes the news. Again.

imagesSoon-to-be-returning KSBY news anchor Jeanette Trompeter must be counting the days until she leaves Minneapolis-St. Paul for the friendlier confines of San Luis Obispo.

As CalCoastNews first reported in November, Trompeter lost her lucrative TV news anchor position in the Twin Cities due to station budget cuts. Fortunately for her, KSBY-TV decided to make room for the Cal Poly graduate and former KSBY reporter by choosing not to renew Shari Small’s contract. Trompeter is scheduled to begin co-anchoring KSBY news in January.

However, our friends at TwinCities.com are reporting that Minneapolis police shot and wounded a suspect last Friday who allegedly stole Trompeter’s black 2007 BMW 750 from her driveway. Trompeter told police that her boyfriend had been loading the car with wine (hopefully all California labels) for her going-away party.

According to a criminal complaint, Steven Dion Kellum, hopped in the running car and took off just after 5 p.m., drove to a nearby Burger Jones restaurant to get a few drinks without paying (obviously he didn’t see the wine in the back of the car), and was later confronted and shot by police. Kellum is listed in serious condition at Hennepin County Medical Center.

Trompeter and her boyfriend, identified only as “D.A.,” were not injured.

i once hear Jeanette tell someone that she dated D.A. and criminal attorneys to get an edge on courthouse news i see nothing has changed .

Good riddance to stumblin’ Small. As for the return of Trompeter, she should replace Tony cuz Danielle Lerner is better than all of ’em and should stay.

I am married but I am in love with shari small, she has a big mind and Cal Coast should consider her reseme, if they are lucky enough to have it presented to them, I agree with Mcdave and second this opinion,

“CalCoastNews should hire Shari Small at once before McNeil/Lehrer snaps her up. She could do a video podcast reading CCN’s headlines under fluorescent lights in front of simulated wood paneling.”

Trompeter’s coup unseating Shari Small is the most hideous TV catfight since Debra Norville took down Jane Pauley (which was another blond-on-brunette contretemps). It’s a big gamble by KSBY: the assisted living residents and head injury victims who watch local TV news were in love with Shari and will be unhappy to watch her float away on an iceberg.


CalCoastNews should hire Shari Small at once before McNeil/Lehrer snaps her up. She could do a video podcast reading CCN’s headlines under fluorescent lights in front of simulated wood paneling.
